It's because he can't move nearly as fast as naruto and teleporting to naruto was the quickest way.
So now sasuke is a sitting duck compared to naruto.

Then carry him over to somewhere else and then go back to the other side of the god tree to where he sent madara with his blitz rasengan thing.

Sasuke was not in the vicinity of where the fight was taking place. Remember Madara flew from that area to go get his eye and the other half of Kyuubi from Obito. leaving Sasuke behind.

Sasuke has always been faster than Naruto. I don't think that has changed either.
