[Theory] Sasuke and Orochimaru's Beef with the Leaf.
On a side note, what can be more important than saving the world for the Toad Boss? I was thinking Jiraiya could be alive now and re-assigned his contract with him but I am not sure Orochimaru would have had enough time to sneak into Obito's hideout to get Jiraiya's DNA from Pein's weapons and then seek Tsunade out. Still if that happened it would be bad ass to see the Sannin together again.
Okay, it is looking very, very likely that Sasuke is still traitor and is in cahoots with Orochimaru. To start off, there is a chance Orochimaru hates the leaf village for a good reason. Perhaps his clan was destroyed just like the Uchiha and that has gotten Sasuke on his side in the recent chapters.
First off, Orochimaru seems to have issues with the Leaf Village itself even though he cried for his sensei. When Orochimaru tried to brush it off as being tired, Hiruzen grinned and called him on his BS. He also mentioned Orochimaru is not the type of man to act solely out of vengeance.
Now the most telling thing about their plan is these panels here. Kishimoto randomly added a recent flashback between Sasuke and Orochimaru talking about his true motives. It strongly hints that Orochimaru has deeper motives and it was shown before Sasuke made his decision. Kishimoto never adds things in for no reason (Such as the scene where Orochimaru asked Kabuto his blood type. This issue did not get closure until much later when we find out Kabuto can assimilate Bloodline Limits via blood transfusion.)
Now tell me. Those this seem like the face of a reasonable, sane guy with intentions to protect the village?
Add further to this by how Sasuke claims everything is the Hokages' fault and you can tell he places all blame on them and not Madara and the Uchiha. After that Sasuke says he doesn't care what people think of him and that he will become Hokage but then Kishimoto adds panels after that showing Itachi's words where he claims you need to be ACKNOWLEDGED by others to become Hokage. Basically Sasuke doesn't care what people think because he plans to become Hokage BY FORCE like Madara did back in the day.
Now notice that the three shinobi closest to what's going on, Sakura, Jugo, and Sai are all suspicious of Sasuke's intent. Sakura cried while Sai and Jugo both noticed something from that distance. The reason Sakura looks disappointed is because she has noticed Sasuke's betrayal: Sasuke is using his control of Amaterasu to shift the flames over to Hashirama's Sage Art: Gate of the Great God -- Seal Head Torii to free the beast. To make matters worse, Sasuke sent Orochimaru kill the current Hokage. The chapter ends with a dark premonition which signifies Orochimaru will kill (And Impure World Resurrect) Tsunade. People assumed Orochimaru brought Karin over to heal her, but Orochimaru used Karin's sensory skills to locate her. Remember no one knew where the Kages had fallen.
