According to Hagoromo, Sasuke is the transmigrant of his son, Indra.

In Hindu mythology, Indra is the god of thunderstorms, he gained the title of 'king of Devas(gods)' after he defeated Virtra -a dragon who robbed the world of water- using his greatest weapon Vajra (a bow and thunderbolt).

At first the association between Sasuke and the Hindu god is not clear, however in chapter 697 we get a direct reference when Sasuke names his lighting arrow "Indra's Arrow".

We all know Kishimoto's excessive use of symbolism in Naruto, and in chapter 699 we yet again see a subtle Hindu reference, and it is again coming from Sasuke.

At the end of the chapter we see Sasuke finally acknowledge Sakura using Itachi's signature move the "forehead poke". However this specific poke holds additional meaning that foretells their future.

In a Hindu marriage, it is a tradition for the groom to apply sindoor on the bride's forehead, marking her and signifying that she is a married woman.

Conveniently, Sakura's byakugou seal helps to make it look like Sasuke is applying sindoor on her forehead. In chapter 700 we get confirmation that they indeed got married.

No I am not :), and I know and already mentioned that it was like what Itachi did before, it still doesn't affect my point and observation.

Sasuke may have resemblance to Indra, you're referring to...

Although Sasuke taps the forehead with Index and middle finger, its not the same case when u put sindoor [They usually use ring finger, which is symbolical as you put the wedding ring in that finger as well]...

I can bet even Kishimoto didn't see that coming...for I refuse to believe Itachi was trying to apply sindoor on Sasuke. -_-

Ring finger is used to offer roli to Gods not other people, otherwise it's middle fingers and thumb used for apply tilak on oneself or each other. Hinduism didn't have the concept of the ring to worry about ring finger.. ring traditionally had no special meaning.

Haha of course not! I was only referring to that specific poke in chapter 699, and again I am only speculating on the symbolism, we all know Sasuke wasn't really applying sindoor. :p

I think your just over thinking it. Sasuke forehead poke is just a reference to Itachi's method of showing that he cares. He looked up to his brother so of course he will adopt ways of him.

I agree with you, however remember I am talking about symbolism, which is intended to be recognized by the readers and not the characters.
Look at how the ruins of the Hashirama and Madara statues formed the seal of reconciliation, that was meant to be seen by us readers, Im pretty sure Naruto and Sasuke did not intend for those rock fingers to fall on each other in that manner...

Concept of ring doesnt have much meaning, but applying tilak should be done from ring finger and thumb..

Meh Last time I tried using ring finger for tilak on occasion of Rakhi, a Pandit gave me a lecture on it's uses. So...Not that I worry over it all that much.

What is sindoor? I have no idea about Indian customs but it looks like symbolism you are trying to make Sasuke made Sakura his wife .

Kishi is Shintoism it has some affiliation to it's closest old religion Hinduism there might be some connection . Even though all that Sasuke understood how much itachi cared for him when he poked his head he is doing same for sakura.

Kishi loves making parallel .

Don't misunderstand, the symbolism I was referring to only applies for the Sasuke-->Sakura gesture and not the Itachi-->Sasuke for obvious reasons even a 5 year old can comprehend.
If you are just trying to be funny then I'm sorry its hard to tell these days, many people are not so bright. :erm:

Sindoor is a traditional red powder that Hindu women wear on their upper forehead to show that they are married, it is applied by their groom during a wedding ceremony.

@Bolded: Interesting, I agree.
