Itachi's not misguided enough to do something like Sasuke is currently doing. And even if he was, no. Itachi fans aren't like Sasuke apologists. If he did something that had absolutely no point to it, like Sasuke, he'd be called out on it.

Sasuke's version of Amaterasu is superior to Itachi's, it's just that he had to fight more powerful opponents who can negate that jutsu, I don't remember Itachi using it to great effect either, I mean even Hebi Sasuke countered it.

Itachi has no desire to kill Sasuke in that fight, and he turned his head slowly as Sasuke was running- he wanted to hit Sasuke's wings with amaterasu so that he'd lose chakra by having to shed a skin and Orochimaru would be released. Which worked.

Sasuke has enton which allows for manipulation of the fire, however it looked like Itachi's amaterasu was hotter. That jutsu burned through a stone toad stomach in part one within an instant, meanwhile Sasuke's amaterasu has difficulty burning through samurai armor and Karin's clothing. Just food for thought.

ot: Yes, Sasuke has a tendency to do that. He's done it from the start, even as a kid. Lol However, I guess it's okay. Kishimoto wanted an angsty deuteragonist and he fits the role alright.

It's supposed to counter all 5 nature transformations, but it doesn't necessarily classify as fitting under the category of any of them. I haven't seen Itachi pull out Yata when facing an opponent with an earth nature.

Sasuke is trying to solve the villages problems no matter the hate it generates and make them focus on him instead of each other. That is exactly what Itachi did to Sasuke (Solved the problem of the Uchiha, shouldered the hate and became his target to provide a motivating force.)

Also, fat burns really well. Much easier than armor.

Itachi also didn't know Sasuke was hiding underground. He was testing Sasuke there is no way to say the Amaterasu wasn't meant to harm Sasuke
