Sasori - 34.5
Itachi - 35.5
Sasori only beats Itachi in Stamina.
All the other Categories fall in Itachi's favour.
Itachi and Jiraiya had the highest stats in the last databook.
Yes, Sasori can ALMOST beat Itachi but he can't win.

correct me if im wrong but you all talk as if itatchi can spam sasuno but he can't its almost a last resort kind of a final trump kinda thing because of his terrible stamina. Amertasu is a different story though so sasori kind of screwed there.
the moment itachi sees his heart with his sharingan since it contains chakra, he will realize that's his weakness and start devising a strategy immediately. and not only does he has sharingan to predict the movement of his puppets, but is also fast enough to dodge, and then there's susano'o and amaterasu.
edit: and correct me if I'm wrong, but the kind of puppets kankuro (spelling) use is lifeless, but sasori has a heart in him that contains chakra, you can't use genjutsu on a puppet because it has no chakra, but sasori should be different story. genjutsu disrupts the chakra, thus itachi should be able to get him as well

sharingan won't predict sasori's or the puppets movements , because they aren't technically human ^^, sasori is almost a full puppet, with no brain, therefore itachi's genjutsu can't affect him, since genjutsu messes with your brain,
genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, Sasori has no brain, no veins , no blood, nothing...Just a heart, the rest is puppet, therefore he can't get affected by genjutsu
Anyways Ot- Itachi beats sasori, , Either with amaterasu, or totsuka sword or something

I don't understand why Sasori has a warranty for it.
Typically, Genjutsu users extend their chakra in to the brain to manipulate the mind's chakra. Sasori has a mind, but no brain. A Genjutsu user should still be able to manipulate his mind's chakra - wherever it is.

Sasori is a top ninja that stands a chance against anybody. Yes tbh he can beat itachi, due to his stamina. Amaterasu will do great damage since the puppets are wood, but there are way too many puppets for itachi to use amaterasu on them all.
Also he wouldnt be able to stay in susano the whole time due to his stamina and those puppets are unpredictable. If itachi gets poisoned thats it because he is already extremely ill.
Saying all this itachi does have other less chakra consuming katon ninjutsu's, but its whether he can use them several times, without consuming alot of his average chakra capacity
