Sannins shouldn't have left Konoha

I agree watching those two die in the last episodes made me wish somehow things had been different. And this is a way it could have been, but then we wouldn't have a story.

if the sannin were there it would have like doubled konoha's power. that would be 5 kage level shinobi in the village at the time, plus kushina.... tobi attacking the village would have been an exercise in futility

I know this is an anime and not real life, but in terms of practicality, I actually think there should have been some kind of evacuation of the villagers, at least for the normal non-shinobi citizens.

Also, I'm not entirely sure why they couldn't have resealed kyuubi into kushina. As long as she doesn't get pregnant again the seal wouldn't reweaken.

she was going to die, so the kyuubi would go along with her, then resurface later on. that would weaken konoha's military position.
