Sannin overrated?

Tsunade-fan.....that's all i can say. Minato would not have let the pains touch the village , believe me, even if he had died himself. So what if one pain flies? Did you see what he did to the tailed beast bomb? Same thing would happen with any shinra tensei used to attack the leaf, or he'd teleport to the god realm and stop him. Also, the ONLY reason the sannin were listed as kages was because the 3rd died and konoha was in an emergency....if they were that good, would'nt the 3rd have asked jiraiya or tsunade to take over instead of minato?

Yes! I am a Tsunade fan, but i'm certain of what my favorite character's capacity and limitations are.

I am not against Minato, but i'm just stating that no matter who the Kage during the Pain invasion was, no one could have prevented the damage. Perhaps it will vary on the scale of destruction done. Even Naruto at that time, who have surpassed Minato & Jiraiya had problems dealing with pain/nagato even with the intel from Katsuyu.

Remember that the Sannins were away from the village and are in their fallen state. If you were the third, would you choose a ninja who have got interested on forbidden techniques, a ninja who had a blood phobia and is about to quit the ninja life and a ninja who's frustrated because he can't save his friend rather a ninja who is much younger, student of a sannin, mentally and physically stable?

It was a whole different story when the nine tails attacked. He's not afraid to fight and is willing to sacrifice himself because he knew that even if he dies, the village will be left with the third and will remain safe as oppose to Tsunade's case where she knew Pain killed Jiraya and there's no one left to be her successor if she dies and got killed. The village will be in chaos without a Hokage.

Didn't you think, why did they look after Jiraiya & Tsunade before Danzo? That implies, the Sannins are more capable than what you think of.

If his students are strong it shows how good that ninja is at teaching obviously! How can you not get that ? Whenever anyone mentions "strong" it means strength of fight-wise, whenever they mention "good" it means GOOD. Jirayia was good at what he did and that was to guide some of the strongest ninja. And he probably would have won against pain if he knew all of his abilities.

Sasuke beat maybe the weakest version of adult Orochimaru that we've ever seen. It doesn't count so much as a fight really. But sasuke at this point in the manga should be stronger than Itachi. Before the implant, no.

I would put Minato, Itachi, Madara, Hiruzen and Hashirama as top 5 since they've all proven to be smart, highly skilled in using their own abilities and strong. Pain is close though, but he lacks the intelligence the others seemed to have shown. Don't get me wrong, he's smart, just not as smart as the rest. And then Jirayia would be in the top 10 from what we've seen.

Ok the sannins are not overrated at all. Jirayia beat like four pains and pain himself siad if they didnt have there secret they woulda lost. Itachi who is one of the strongest in naruto didnt dare fight him saying that if him and kisame were to go against him the would die that right there shows how strong he was.. Tsunade no matter how u put it none of the kages coulda prevented pain from messing up the village like he did. But she dis what none of them could which is keep most of the village safe and alive. Her power is crazy she put jiraiya near death only naruto did that. (Pain killd him) ... And know for oro. He isnt just powerful but crazy. U dont wanna ef with some with all his jutsus and as crazy as he was. He lost 2 sasuke cuz he was sick and susuke said that. And sasuke jumpd him wen he was in bed that is just wrong. But all the jutsus he knew his chakra and he was able 2 fight and hold his own in the fight with 4 tails naruto. There are not many ninja who could do that..So they were now overrated at all they deserve what they get if not more.

you're all retarded. the sannin that fought hanzou back in the 2nd world war were nothing more than mere shadows of the sannin we know today. and yet they were still named the 3 strongest shinobi on the battlefield besides hanzou and hiruzen.

They're not overrated, granny hokage I thought was weak but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. As for the other two I think they have proven themselves, each of them went up against two of the strongest akashi members with known little of their abilities and them knowing all of theirs. I'm not gonna say the oro is just as strong as itachi because he isn't, and yes he was beaten but each time he attacked itachi he was caught off guard by what itachi putout, in a sense he underestimated him each time, which was stupid on his part, but he is far from being weak. Ultimately I think anyone would have been caught in itachi's gen. by just going out attacking him without caution.

The sannins are not overrated. Jirayia, Orochimaru and Tsunade is ment to be the legendary trio, they are supposed to be LEGENDARY and great ninjas. What bothers me is that people seem to underestimate Tsunade just because her highest mastery is her medical powers (pointing out its useless and nothing compared to offensive powers). Shes the hokage (Generally the most powerful ninja of the village)

I think the sannins worked best as a group when they were young. But when they grew up as adults, they became individual powerful legendary ninjas, especially after they mastered the summoning technique.

I think none of them has showed theyre maximum potential while as adults, they always had hard counterparts, you know what im talking about. Too sad Jirayia and Oro is dead. Tsunade has already proven herself too us what great medical ninja she is. But she has yet to show her maximum potential on the offensive side in the war.

If hanzo is as weak as they've shown him in the last chapter, then what of the sannin, maybe they're overrated too? Let's face it, hanzo was the one who gave them the title and i have my doubts as to how strong these 3 are/were. Tsunade was pathetic when konoha was attacked, and could any of the sannin stand up to the likes of itachi, pain, minato,kabuto or even sasuke/naruto (at their current levels)? I don't think so.

Just going to say this is a good thread. Its hard to say if the Sannin are over rated or were played by Madara, and Hanzo. I think its way to hapenstanital that Madara is looking to rekindle the flames of war, and then the Sanin fight Hanzo who gets doubble crossed by Akatuski, and Danzo, and then is defeated by the a student of one of the three people he let live.. Its awakward but the pieces seem to fit to much to seem like its all random. Not only that but now Kabuto the right hand man to Orochimaru is working with Madara. Wayyyyyy tooo many things connect Hanzo to the Sannin and the past that ever made either Hanzo or the Sannin at the time seem like much more than a regular jounin.

i dont buy that opinion of yours, remember hanzo can teleport and the sannin were still learning back then so they must have surpassed hanzo

He used body flicker in the manga, and depending on what version of the anime you watch is teleport or body flicker. Here on NB you'll see him teleport same with Sauske vs Dediera.
