Location 1- Sanji IMO, high diff. I think if he lands a haki-imbued diable jambei, its game over. Crocos durability was exposed against Luffy I'd say, and I can't remember much from Marineford as far as him making up for that end.
Location 2 though, Croco mid diff. That terrain advantage is likely too much for Sanji to overcome.

Sanji mid-diff in both scenarios. He's far too fast for Crocodile, and a barrage from Sanji is far stronger than the barrage from Luffy that knocked out Crocodile. Sanji at this point can probably knock out MF Crocodile with a single combo. And before someone miserably misunderstands, Jozu only got one blow in, a few more blows from Jozu and Crocodile would have been dead.
Crocodile is grossly overrated. You put him in a desert, and people automatically forget about the fact that his opponent has far superior speed, strength and durability. This same over-reliance on DF is what got Crocoboy's ass kicked from the New World plum back into Paradise.

Yeah, that applies to a lot of anime unfortunately, it's OVA's are better done than the show itself, unfortunately. He does seem pretty beast, might have to read/research into the story, might watch it.

Also, are people forgetting what happened with Vergo and Smoker? The more smoke Smoker had, the larger the target Vergo had to be able to strike. The second Crocodile bonds his body and consciousness with the desert, Sanji can literally stomp the ground and make Crocodile pass out due to the connection.

Vergo's CoA is deadly compared to Sanji's, that's why it was a big issue for someone like Smoker. It's a different scenario, Crocodile will last a longer with Sanji than Smoker did with Vergo.

Was that the point? No. Busoshoku Haki, period, is gonna be bad news for Crocodile. It doesn't matter that Sanji's Busoshoku isn't on Vergo's level because Crocodile isn't on Sanji's.

Nothing Sanji has is stronger than a brilliant Punk in used with Jozu's Haki.
The underrating of Crocodile is ridiculous, Crocodile did well clashing with Doflamingo's kick too.

Yes, no one attack from Sanji is stronger than one Brilliant Punk from Jozu. But multiple, successive attacks from Sanji will do more damage than one Brilliant Punk. While Crocodile is capable of tanking one Brilliant Punk, a few more would have most likely killed him. If Sanji hits Crocodile enough times, he will knock out Crocodile, the number of hits Sanji needs is just far more than the number of hits Jozu needs.
Unless you think Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Storm in Alabasta is stronger than a diamond-clad, Busoshoku-laced fist..

Sables is enough to twirl Sanji a hundred meteors away.
Seeing Crocodile's mastery over his devil fruit, all it takes is one touch from Crocodile and several from Sanji.
Sanji can fly, but Crocodile can fly and travel underground.
Since he's capable of hitting the likes of Akainu, one touch is more than enough for Crocodile.
So many factors such as location, condition, wins, and limitations was put into that fight that it doesn't even count.
Don't even bring that up again...

I think they would probably be pretty even in scenario one Sanji has the speed to keep up with Crocodile however I think Crocodile is also strong enough to evenly fight with Sanji.
In Scenario 2 I'd have to give the fight to Crocodile on the basis he could literally attack Sanji from anywhere but I doubt it would be an easy fight.

It's not up to Crocodile though. Sanji's speed is far ahead of Crocodile's, so if Sanji gets close and kicks him, Crocodile is gonna feel it. Sanji can essentially blitz Crocodile, and while Crocodile reels from the initial kick, Sanji can keep on kicking him in a barrage that keeps him off-guard and reeling. All it takes is one kick from Sanji, and he can follow up with a barrage like Poele a Frire: Spectre. If Sanji can land a hit, it's gonna be over for Crocodile.
Crocodile flying means nothing as Sanji is faster in the air anyways. He goes underground and becomes one with the desert, Sanji can literally just stomp the ground and Crocodile will pass out.

Nothing is keeping off guard in a one on one fight, in the marineford it was a free for all.
Gear two even hit Crocodile from further reaching Whitebeard, did he stand there waiting to be hit again?

Its not hard to grasp. If you have superior speed than someone, you can strike them. Because the strength gap between Sanji and Crocodile is large, and Sanji is immensely faster than Crocodile, a direct hit to the face would daze him and send him flying. During that moment he's dazed and flying, he's vulnerable. Sanji can follow up with more kicks, which Crocodile would be unable to block against. With Gear 2, Luffy could have Jet Pistoled Crocodile and he wouldn't have been able to do anything about it. Crocodile was unable to dodge some of Alabasta, pre-Gear Luffy's attacks, how's he gonna dodge or move to block someone who is immensely faster than that? It's not that Crocodile is letting Sanji hit him, Crocodile just doesn't have the speed to do anything about it.

A Logia user is connected to their element. If Crocodile goes underground, he becomes one with the desert, meaning he and the desert are connected, as he now IS the sand in the desert. Sanji can kick any part of the desert and Crocodile will feel pain, it doesn't have to be the exact spot Crocodile is on, because Crocodile is now one with the entire desert
