Name: Sanji

-------Nickname: Black Leg (Kuro Ashi)-------

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Clan: Gyojin
Looks
Sanji is a tall, slim man with long legs. He has a light complexion and blond hair, brushed to one side of his face, which conceals his left eye. Sanji has distinctive eyebrows. They curl up into a spiral, but at different ends. This means Sanji has an asymmetrical face. This is something he is sensitive about, and if someone jibes him on it he will become depressed. Sanji's face is egg shaped, and he has a small goatee.

Sanji is always well dressed, typically wearing a black, double-breasted suit and a tie and shirt of varying colors. He wears re-enforced dress shoes, which are incredibly durable. Sanji has been known to change his outfit according to the weather, but even then his fashion choice is still sensible.

Personality
To most people,Sanji can pretty much be described in one word. This word may differ from person to person, but it is almost always one word. For his admirers, it would be something along the lines of 'Cool' and 'Badass'. To ladies, however, there is always one definitive word that stands out. Pervert. And it's true. Sanji always falls hopelessly in love with any reasonably attractive woman he sees, and is always quick to instigate flirting and amorous behavior. This seems to annoy others, especially since Sanji's behavior results in his own nose-bleeds.

However, this side of Sanji isn't all bad. The chef is incredibly chivalrous, prepared to risk life and limb to ensure the well-being of a lady. To this end, Sanji has vowed never to harm a woman or insult a woman, or let them be harmed or insulted, while he is still able to stand. Even if this proves to be problematic, Sanji never goes against his credo.

Being a chef, Sanji holds food in very high regards. Since food is a vital part of sustaining life, Sanji believes that a chef should prepare it as if it were sacred. To this end, he quickly becomes irate if he sees anyone treating food with less respect than his own, from incorrectly preparing it to wasting some. Prior to this Sanji was careless with food, often wasting vast amounts. Because of his starvation Sanji has come to hold food on a higher level of importance than most.

He is a chain-smoker, never being seen without a cigarette. This is a habit Sanji never seems willing to kick, because it makes him look manly. The chef feels that he is a man among men, and could be considered a little vain if it results in him looking manlier than someone else.

Sanji is a very down to earth person, who is not above admitting that he is not perfect. He would rather work together as a team (the collective strength would be 'higher') and succeed than brashly attack on his own and fail. He is also highly perceptive, often having to tell people what they need to hear instead of what they want. It is this part of his nature that may intimidate others, but unlike a certain moss-head Sanji doesn't hide his feelings behind a facade, openly bursting into tears and cursing people.

History
Prologue

It was a chilly summer night. The sky was perfectly clear and many thousands of stars shone in that endless darkness, forming mysterious ornaments and signs, which had always made people look upon them with awe. In the middle of that ocean of stars, there was a crescent moon, a center figure in the sky. The land below was covered in dark, dreary, endless forests. They seemed to be the reflection of the sky, only the light was missing... In the midst of those forests a single path was curving like a snake.

A lone man was walking that path. Compared to the forests, to the sky, or even to the path, he was so small... Almost nothing... That man was an old monk, returning to a temple. His steps were slow but they were firm. His breath was silent and sparse but it was very deep. His eyes were covered by darkness but he saw much more than most people see during the day. Step by step, slowly, he moved forwards through his path but not a single step was misplaced. And here in this darkness, he seemed to be a part of the forest.

As this old monk was making his way through the forest, suddenly, a shadow appeared from the forest and entered the small strip of road, illuminated by the moon. That shadow had a shape of a person, though that person was moving very strangely, as if he was in absolute darkness. The monk, seeing this silhouette, immediately understood, that it is a shadow of someone who needs help and breaking his tranquility, the monk started running towards the figure. Once the old man had reached that shadow, he saw a kid. A boy no older than seven years. Even when touched by the monk, the boy didn't stop and continued going as if he didn't notice anything. The kid didn't react even when addressed or when the monk grabbed his shoulders and forcefully turned the boy to face him. He seemed as if his mind and all senses were in another world.

The monk calmed down the body of the boy and put him to sleep. And then he took the boy with him to the temple. Only when, finally in the temple, the monk had put the boy to bed, he noticed that there is a strange atmosphere around that kid.

When the boy finally woke up, it turned out that he had lost his memories. He only said that he remembers walking through dark forest for a long long time but no matter how long did he kept on going, the day would never rise. Once a moon had set, what would rise again soon would be the same moon.

Life in the Temple

Once brought to this magnificent center of religion, the boy stayed there, for he had no family, no memories, no past. The monks became his family and the temple became his home. The monks called him Sanji.

The temple was, probably, the best place for Sanji to grow, for it was a place isolated from the superstitions of people. Here, Sanji was raised like everybody else, he had no exceptional rights, nor was he in anyway inferior to anyone. He would work, play and learn with other boys. Sanji made himself lots of friends. Here, everyone was equal and only years of hard work gave the chance to advance.

Sanji had spent three years in the temple. He had learned a lot and was one of the more clever boys, he could have become a monk but one quality set him apart from everybody else. He, above anything else, sought for freedom and experience, he couldn't get here, in the temple. The elder monks have acknowledged this fact. No one was to be made a monk against his own will.

One day, a monk Sanji had never seen before, appeared and approached the boy. He told Sanji, that he can take him on a journey and teach him things Sanji couldn't learn while in this temple. He told Sanji, that he would see many places he hadn't seen before and that he would meet many people but Sanji would have to leave the temple and could only return after long long years. Soon Sanji made his decision. One day he just said goodbye to his friends and everyone he knew and disappeared with that strange monk.

Adventure

The monk, Sanji left with, was called Bokasu, though the boy quickly understood that it wasn't a real name. It soon turned out that the man was a mysterious person. Many people knew of his existence and at least half of them were helped by him but no one, Sanji has met during his travels, could really tell anything about Bokasu.

Nevertheless, this middle aged monk soon became the best friend, the most loved teacher and a real family to Sanji. This man had a great influence on the way Sanji grew and developed both mentally and physically. They had traveled together a lot. For the most time they stayed at the Wind Country, they explored the land together, so Sanji got the chance to learn a lot about island's wildlife, plants, and its geography from personal experience. An old man and a little boy. A strange duo, they went to places others didn't even want to think of visiting. But it wasn't only Wind Country, that they explored. They left it a few times, when Bokasu seemed to have some business and such times were perfect chances for Sanji to learn more about the outer world and to meet new people. It was because of Bokasu that he had started to enjoy cooking. The different dishes he learned to prepare started to astound the monk. At times, Bokasu had tried to convince Sanji to become a full-time chef.

It wasn't only the knowledge about the nature that Sanji received from his teacher. It was Bokasu, who taught Sanji how to fight and how to strengthen ones mind and body. The old monk taught many things and Sanji was very grateful. To him, this old man, was his only family and almost his entire life. The boy could hardly imagine living without him.

Maybe it was understanding, that Sanji relied too much on him or maybe it was the plan right from the beginning that made Bokasu do what he did but one day, when they were visiting Kumogakure as usual, he left Sanji and disappeared. That day, old man was very sad and serious. Sanji felt that something was going to happen but he knew that it was better not to ask anything as long as his teacher was in that mood. The monk had left Sanji alone near the lake and told him to wait there. After some hours, two persons approached Sanji and gave him a letter. It was from his teacher. In that letter it was explained that, Sanji had to start living and learning on his own. There were only a few lines written but Sanji understood that there was more to them than a person could tell in an entire book. At the end of the letter Bokasu explained, that he managed to get a place for Sanji among the shinobi of Kumogakure. Considering what Sanji had learned on his journeys, he was appointed the rank of chuunin.

This strange duo had wandered together for five years and it ended as unexpectedly as it had begun.

Part of a Village

Sanji adapted to the life of a village quite quickly. He already had some friends in it and he was no stranger to others. Also he knew about the village as much as anyone living there, so he wasn't considered a stranger there. He got a nice small apartment to live in, which he rearranged to his liking.

Sanji had retained his curiosity and pursuit of knowledge and new experiences, which drove him forward. He spent much of his time traveling across the island, getting to know it even better and better, though he had never avoided his responsibilities as a shinobi. Sanji would gladly take on any mission assigned to him. He saw it all as opportunities to get new experience and knowledge. Because of his responsibility, as well as of his achievements, four year after joining the village he was promoted to jounin rank.

During all these six years he had spent in this village as a part of it, Sanji's life remained pretty much the same. But then one day, a thought hit him. He wanted to become more than an ordinary ninja, he wanted to be known amongst the top and thus began the legend of Sanji.

To be continued....

♦ Other | 能力 ♦
Abilities & Specialties | Weapons
Endurance: Whether from a naturally high tolerance, or acquired through experience and training, Sanji can sustain damage that might otherwise stun him from pain and continue fighting. This doesn't mean that he doesn't feel pain; he is simply a bit more tolerant of flesh wounds. He is still affected by large or otherwise fatal wounds.

Toned Body: During hard training in harsh lands, areas, etc. Sanji's body is toned with it's construction and deconstruction of his muscle tissue. Due to having them injured and healed, they only grow stronger with the nutrients and exercise given to them.

Earth Affinity: Due to earth being Sanji's favorite element, and having shown great skill and mastery over it, he is capable of performing all earth techniques with nothing more than a single hand-seal.

Black Leg Taijutsu: Since Sanji is a Master in the combat style of Black Leg Taijutsu, he has stronger kicks and is faster than a normal ninja.

Kitchen Knives: These knives are surprisingly hidden on Sanji's body. One on each thigh, and two in his belt, one on each side. They are also hidden in his shoes. So in concept, he can pull one of these knives out of anywhere. The knives themselves have a silver colored blade, and the hilt is simply straight black and easy to handle and throw. The knives are light, almost like a stiletto, and are more often used for a surprise.

Gyojin: Gyojin clan share some basic abilities related to their genetic traits, such as: their incredible physical abilities (about 2 times stronger and 1.5 times faster then a regular human), a naturally occurring muco-protein (common to fish) that is both a protection against bacterial infections but also a natural insulator, the ability to breathe underwater, an uncommon resistance to D-rank and under water techniques, and finally incredible swimming speed.
