That's the problem with medic nins: they are support, not combat ninjas. Their unrefined taijutsu style, as in rush in and try to bash someone's skull, will lose everytime against someone that actually has trained in taijutsu, be either a Hyuuga, Strong Fist or even more a Senjutsu master. I don't really get why they are regarded "strong" in combat.

Maybe average medical ninja but medical ninja like Sakura, Tsunade who are trained in evasion and have instant regeneration have nothing to worry about, especially considering they carry years of chakra in their foreheads so there more than likely to have more chakra than their foe.

Even shizune a specialist-medic who’s poison specialism means that in combat she’s still as deadly as any combatant.

Wait, trained in evasion? Both of them charged madara straight on in hoping to hit him (both of them getting stabbed in a similar fashion btw), disregarding their well being knowning that they may have a shot at surviving the attack due to regen. That's their style: trying to overcome the damage received with healing, and hoping to land a hit to end the fight (which didn't work with Orochimaru vs Tsunade for example).

Sakura not being a great fighter is fan fic, she literally is ranked in 5 in all regards of combat and her intellect makes her even more deadly.
She only ever failed at fight when she was emotional and most of it was plot because she would've killed the person in question

Given that we have seen what taijutsu masters can do in a fight I would say that any medical nin is at the very very best average in terms of taijutsu and that's only due to strength, which is pretty much useless if you cannot land a hit.

Regardless of her low level Taijutsu skills, I still give her credit when it's due. She founded a clinic for PSTD patients, she's one of the best Medical nin besides Tsunade, and makes for great support if you need medic on the field.

The whole fact she a medical ninja that can do offense on a level of a jonin at minimum is impressive in itself.

People don't give her enough credit. In the novel she solo'd someone who was above most of her peers offensively with high diff. That is very impressive.

They even highlighted in the novel that she is admired by many young kunoichi and ninja for being a medic who is also a strong fighter. She might the greatest offensive ninja, but considering it just being her side skill and she is still a top ninja in the leaf defensively and offensively means she is well off.

Mid level at minimum IMO solely because of CES, that is a mid level technique in itself.
