No, Iruka didn't have someone drive anything into in spine using superhuman force did he? He had something thrown at him but if we take the primus of your argument and apply it here, was Iruka in a position to get back onto his feet and fight? In theory remember this is a manga not real life. Dont just assume what would happen in real life would happen in a manga. What determines what happens in a manga is the writer and said writer frequently neglects realistism. Remember when naruto and Sasuke had their arms blown clean off in their final fight? They should have bled out especially since they laid on the ground all nigh long but the didn't even lose a trace of blood. In real life they'd have died. Case in piont all this is theoretical.
