If Sakura would have applied the required amount of force behind her kunai, she would have punctured the specific vertebrae labeled above resulting in Sasuke being immobilized.

If Sakura would have punched him, his spine would have been shattered and his death most likely would have been imminent.

Now this is all If we use actual medical reasoning but if the characters in the NV have a different anatomy I'm down to accept that.
