Sakura is skilled at defending genjutsu. Genjutsu affects the chakra in your mind and Inner Sakura is "there in Sakura's mind" and she defends Sakura's "mind from genjutsu or any control" when "activated" or awakened as a last line of defense.

If they were somehow related it'll be pretty cool but than again kaguya and sakura aren't alike in anyway.

I don't know about that one. If I had to guess, I would say Sakura is more closely related to the Uzumaki clan than whatever Tayuya is. Also Sakura is more similar to Karin/Kushina than Tayuya.
