Sakumo (Kakashi's dad) was a lot better than we think

He's dead, doesn't really matter now.

I've fit the timeframes together, and Sakumo would have been a good 10-15 years older than the Sannin at the time of his death. Kakashi is currently 29-30, same as Yahiko/Nagato/Konan. The Sannin are roughly 50 in age, and Kakashi was 13 at the time his dad died. That would have made them around 36-38 years old, roughly at the time Sakumo died, while he was closer to 50-55 at that point.

Edit: So, at that point, he would have obviously been stronger. He was about the age of Hiruzen, give or take a few years. Thus, he would obviously be stronger than under-developed Sannin at that time(Just like Hanzo, even though he still whooped their ass.)

Yeah, I get what you're saying. But that means Sakumo had more potential if he was better at a similar age?

Potentially. It's also possible Sakumo hit his peak a lot earlier than others.

I read every day it seems that "Kakashi is done getting stronger, he's hit his prime", despite being only 30.

Age has effected everyone differently in this series. Hiruzen's skills greatly deteriorated as he aged, so it seems like he really did hit his prime and then go down hill in his 30s or 40s, where as someone like Chiyo was still capable of fighting on par with someone like Sasori at the age of 73, and she didn't seem to have any physical "let downs".

We've seen Onoki complain about his back and have his back hinder him in a fight multiple times.

It all depends, I guess.

I don't think it was said Kakashi was 13 when his father died. Kakashi was 13 when he became jounin. Pretty sure Kakashi was several years younger when his father died, but I could be wrong. My memory is failing me atm.

Kakashi was 8 when that mission incident occurred, according to this(13-5 = 8 is how I'm getting that, obviously):

It's not said exactly how long after he took his life, though:

Kind of off-topic here, but I never understood how he was looked down upon by the village, not with Hiruzen as hokage. The way Hiruzen was, his entire tenure as Hokage, gives us no reason to believe he would look down upon Sakumo for saving his teammates..something that from what we know, Hiruzen would have done as well.

my bad lmao meant to type 7-8

We can't know exactly cause it could be 5years 11 months ya know

Edit: I guess not 100% village was against him but too much was
Hiruzen can't force em to accept his choice either after all he couldn't stop them from hating Naruto. Proof that he was not looked down upon by everyone is that even now his name is famous for the good stuff, and he was in the balance when Kakashi was suggested as Hokage, but still having 95% of the village hating you is harsh especially when even tough those you save turn against you.
The aftermaths of his choice are probably what led them to act that way, would I've been Hiruzen, I would have had those bastard he saved killed for that >.>
