Does anyone think there was a reason for not bringing back Sakumo Hatake as an edo resurrection? Perhaps because it would have removed Kakashi from being able to fight with Tobi, as we know he has limited chakra. It would have been very interesting to see Sakumo in action as we have only heard of his abilities. There is a chance he could still play a role with Kakashi and Obito's past as we know he committed suicide while Kakashi was young, but don't know when. This also clearly shaped Kakashi's beliefs, along with the death of Obito.

Thoughts on why Sakumo was left out? It seems unlikely that his DNA could not be gathered.

Ignoring plot reasons for him not appearing, Sakumo had kind of a dishonorable death in which he died in the village by suicide. Consequently, his remains were likely destroyed as with most ninja so the secrets of his body could not be used. Additionally, the White Fang would have been of an approximate age with Orochimaru. He committed suicide fairly young at a time when Oro may not have mastered edo tensei and may not have been collecting DNA.
