The Uzumaki could have been a clan of priests before the ninja society was established. You're thinking too hard about it, names have to come from somewhere and one person has to start the name.

BUT.....now here is the good part
Nagato on the other hand was able to use the rennigan to its full potential.....WHY was he able to do that?....he didn't have any cells implanted in him.......its because he was a friggin uzumaki!!! so if an uzumaki is able to control the rennigan individually whereas the uchiha or senju can't so it can only mean that the uzumaki posses both the powers of the uchiha and the senju. which other individual posseses both the powers???........THE SAGE OF THE SIX PATHS!!!
