*Stepping forward, I slice from your right to left, my bokken colliding with yours.*

Hm, good.

Alright, the next move is the two-handed variant of that block - you'll be using two-hands to block it instead of one, as I'll be using a two-handed slash.

The variation in this block is that not only will you have two hands on the hilt, but you'll actually have it braced against your side.

If you can't do a frontal guard (we'll cover it next), I recommend either parrying a horizontal slash. But, we'll cover that later.

Ready?

Yup
*I swing my bokken with both hands - the blades collide, your bokken stopping mine from hitting you, but sending a bolt through your body.*

Good.

Next is the guard against vertical attacks, which is undoubtedly easier.

To begin with..the one-handed variant.

If you opponent attacks you with a one-handed vertical attack, you can stop it by holding your bokken horizontally, and lifting it into the strike, almost like you're uppercutting.

It makes a + and is a relatively simple guard - know this, though: you want to get the blade to hit as close to the tsuba as possible. If they hit too far up the blade, they'll blow through your guard and possibly strike you.

You want me to demonstrate?

*I place my right hand on the hilt of my Bokken and take a step, while attacking you with a vertical slash*
*As your bokken comes down, I turn my horizontally with the tip facing left. Raising my bokken and sliding it to the left, I position it so that your strike lands close to the hand guard.*

Understand?

Bravo. I would not have thought to tell you that - making their blade slide off of yours was a very good move.

Now, if you wouldn't mind...it's been so long, I'm not quite sure what all we've covered. I believe all we have is the two handed guards, but would you please list everything we've covered? o-O"

Thanks =D

Vertical Slash = (one and two hands)
Horizontal Slash = (one and two hands)
Stab = (one hand only)
Lunge = (one and two hands)
Guarding = (from all of the above moves with one and two hands)

And I'm not sure if we did the diagonal slash, I belive you only taught me how to guard against it.

Well, we can cover the diagonal if you want. o_o I usually don't cover it.

Okay, so we have covered guarding against two-handed slashes? Or do we still have yet to cover those?

We did O_O
xd Okay, okay, so diagonal slashes then.

First, the one-handed variant.

Diagonal slashes run either top/bottom right/left to top/bottom left/right. They run like this ( " \ " ) and this ( " / " ).

Diagonal slashes are the most common attack, really, as you're not going to swing your arm straight up and down usually, and so the strike will have some angle to it.

Depending on the steepness of the attack, it may be guarded with either a + or X guard.

First, try by swinging your blade from your left to right, from about shoulder height down to your ankle - step forward into the slash.

Alright, good. ^_^

Now, like the other slashes, the diagonal's two-handed variants are simple changes - simply place your other hand on the bokken, and adjust your swing accordingly, to accommodate for your other hand being on the hilt.

In terms of simplicity, it's with the vertical slash as the easiest two hand.

Do both directions, two handed please.
