rp question on my second element

I'm becoming a chunin soon, so I'll be learning my second element. My current element is earth, and I want to learn water second, however, will having those two make me overly weak to lightning users? I ask because I know wind would be a better choice as my second element to beat lightning, but I don't really like the lower level wind element techniques - they're all the same. So, is water worth it?

Water isn't weak to lightning if you use it the right way.
The water will absorb the lightning attacks.
Unless you're standing on the water, or are submerged under the water, you shouldn't be harmed by the lightning.
