Well, I am a member since 2008. I'm member number 3623, joined i think 3 weeks after the site was formed. Perhaps less. Can't precise it. I'd have to check V's join date and compare to mine.
Anywho, when I joined I joined because I was already reading Naruto manga since about 3 months after its original release. I always read a lot when growing up, mainly comics and the usual teen books and at about...12 or 13 I started with manga. You must realize that 15 years ago, Manga and the internet as a whole were quite different. It was rare to find content online and the web itself was not as resoruceful as it is today. But here and there started to read manga. When Naruto was released about...10 years ago or something I was browsing a manga news site from japan which had both english and japanese articles. And the cover of naruto actually drew me in. Ofc I couldn't understand anything of what was written in the article. But when I read the first chapter....hooked. I then kept reading it and all but wanted to talk about it with people. No real place for that existed. Until one day I googled Naruto Forums and found Narutobase. Joined. At this time I had just finished college and was in my first job. My online time was reduced so I didn't actually participate that much. I was one of those "shadow" memebers. Lol. One day I stumbled upon a fight thread. It was Goro vs I can't remember. But I remember reading it and was like "this seems fun". As I browsed and read more and more I was deeper and deeper hooked. I then started to post and "chat" or RP (like it was supposed to be done) here in Konoha Town.
At the time I found myself with an active bunch that usually posted and interacted with eachother. -Yard-, Howard, Sindy, Toku, AiMi, AMystery, Sexy Tsunade (don't remember the exact username though), KidKisame, Zenpachi, Taiketsu Yagami (my first rival!!!!! T_T), Pervy and many more. As I read on I found how to make a bio and what not and made my first bio. Tohono Ketchua (made up character). Then I started begging for training as one does lol. -Hattori Hanzo-, at the time Kirabi's senpai was my first teacher in earth and later in Wind and Fire. His name is now Raiden.., awesome guy tbh. I miss him. Anywho, then I got Toku to teach me Ninjutsu (I miss Toku as well :/), Pervy Taught me Genjutsu, Leaf taught me Lightning. Made a Hashirama bio (which I never dropped until today). Lili taught me water and Taijutsu and Gentle fist in the future. In the meanwhile, Scary and Izuna defected from Akatsuki into Konoha and I joined Konoha. I think i made my Ao bio at this point and kept him in exchange for my Tohono bio. Then dropped Ao and made Galen as a Hyuuga. At some point Scary started my wood training and Gobi finished it. I became Scary's Senpai then lost my post count and regained it and became his senpai again. Then I took the sensei test. 2 Monhts later give or take I was asked to be RP mod. This was all between April/May and January.
All this to say what exactly? That the fact tha I remember this all makes it clear: I'm addicted to NB. I love how the site helps people escape their lives. Many use the site as an escape and to many the site is their real family or even their parental figure. Many come her to try and forget. Its more healthy than drugs or booze thats a given. And I always loved this "universe" and to be part of it was always tempting and addictive. I'm here because I have fun here. Well, not so much currently but thats expected with modship. Though I can see the big picture and I'm fully aware that I contribute in an invaluable way to something that is good and enjoyed by many. These types of sites are made by people who give their time, they effort to make it grow and to keep it running. Its a type of voluntary work if you may.NB is the home to many people. If I can do a small part to keep it trunning, I'll do it while i still can. Thats what makes me stay in the RP and in the site.
