Intercepting Nero once again (the 0th Espada made another predictable beeline towards the commander), Erhardt is able to parry the sheer power of his opponent appropriately. Nero notices that Erhardt's Reishi Shield had the same vein-like Reishi paths that his arms did.
"Your fight is with me, Espada. The commander doesn't need to raise his hand for the likes of you."
"Perhaps you are wondering how I was able to parry you. By extending the defense of Blut Vene to my Reishi shield, I am able to 'sync' and 'fuse' the defensive properties of Blut Vene to my spirit weapon, helping to increase my forward defense manyfold."
Erhardt smiles mockingly, making sure Nero is focused on him alone. "Stern Ritter, Erhardt 'The Shield' Steiner, at your service. Tell me your name; it's a common courtesy."
Unknown to the 0th Espada, Erhardt's talking had a purpose as well. He was gathering Reishi behind the Espada to form his spiritual Crossbow (similar to how Yhwach did it before killing Yama), aiming it squarely at the Arrancar's back...

The instance that Nero was pushed away, Erhardt manages to activate his Blut. Blue, vein-like markings appear across his rolled up/burned sleeves.
