Chap. 1: The Hard Core Crash
The alarm clock sounded in my ears and I reached over and shut off the alarm clock. I pulled the cover over my head, sat up, then pulled it off of my head. I turn my head to look at the time. 8:00 AM. I looked away, then gets a surprised face. I quickly got up and grabbed the alarm clock looking at it.
“Eight ‘O clock!” I yelled. I dropped the alarm clock and ran to the closet, gets a NASCAR suite, puts it on, brushing my teeth at the same time. I ran out of my room, closing the door and locking it, ran down stairs and to the kitchen. “Saisuke! I have toast on the counter!” someone yelled from the living room. “I don’t have the time to eat! I got to get down to the track. I’m going to be late if I don’t hurry! Sorry Tatian!” I said grabbing my bag, out the door, to the garage, and to the race car.
“You have to eat something. You’ll pass out at the track if you don’t.” the girl known as Tatian said as she walked into the garage. “I said that I’m okay. I can make it. I have something in my bag that I can eat once I get to the track.” I said starting the car. I opened the door to the car and hopped in driving down towards the track. Tatian nodded her head. You are one hard headed boy. she thought as she watched me drive down the driveway.
I drove as fast as I could to get to the track, turning through curves and neighborhoods, going faster, finally making it to the track and pulling up at my pit stop. “About time you got here. We have two hours before the race starts, so lets get started.” someone said. I opened the car door and dangled my legs out of the doorway, grabbing my bag and getting something to eat. “It’s the championships, Hya. I’m going to win this one too. No one can beat me.” I said finishing my breakfast. “Well, now that your done, can you get out here and help?” Hya said, grabbing a rag and throwing it at my face. “Hahaha! Alright, fine!” I said getting out and started wiping the front of the car.
“Saisuke!” some little girl yelled running over to me and hugging my leg. I looked down and seen the little girl. “What are you doing here Konan?” I asked her. “I came to see you.” she said. I shook my head and started wiping the car off some more. “Go to Tatian. Your not supposed to be here.” I said. Konan looked at my face. I had a sad, ut serious expression on it. Hya seen the look on my face then sighed. “Konan. Go back to Tatian. Don’t come back over here until the race is over. Okay?” he said to the little girl. She shook her head. “But… Saisuke promised that I would get a ride in his race car with him.” she said pointing to my race car. I shook my head, walked to the door, threw my rag to the side, got in the car, and closed the door, starting it. “Go back to Tatian now.” I said to Konan. She looked at me sadly and walked off. Hya walked up to the window and leaned on it. “The race is going to start within five minutes. You ready to do this?” he asked me. I grabbed my gloves and helmet, putting them on, then tapped the top of the helmet. “I’m ready.” I said. “Then get out there and win.” Hya said as he walked away from the car and sat down in a chair under the shade.
I drove my car to the starting line and stared out at the other racers, then concentrated on the race. They started the race and I stayed in the first place the whole time, stopping at the pit stop, and starting back at the race, and lasted for five hours. I was finally on the last two laps. I concentrated really hard, but I thought way too hard, cause my vision started to blur a little. I closed my eyes and quickly opened them. I rubbed them then concentrated on the race again. I was now on my last lap and seen something crossing the road. I swerved to miss it and did, but hit something else and crashed in the middle of the road, car flipping over multiple times, getting all messed up. Every NASCAR racer had to stop and Hya raced quickly over to my car and kneeled over looking inside. He got a scared face, then tries to open the door. He looked back at me and then at the announcers, making a signal for an ambulance.
Konan looked at Hya and what he was doing. “Mother. What’s father doing? Why is he waving his hands like that?” she asked with an innocent tone in her voice. “He’s signaling for an ambulance. I think that Saisuke is hurt.” Tatian told Konan. In no time, an ambulance and a towing truck showed up on the track. The doctors quickly grabbed something to get the door open, then dragged me out of the racecar, after opening the door. They took my helmet off and gasped at the sight. “We need to get him to the hospital quickly.” the girl yelled. Another doctor jumped out of the car and rolled out a stretcher. The female doctor lifted me carefully on the stretcher, with the help of the male doctor. They rolled me in the back of the ambulance and drove off really quickly, with the towing vehicle behind, towing the racecar away.
Hya watched the drive off with me in the ambulance, then walked to the front of the parking lot and sat on one of the benches. You promised to be careful. What happened there? What did you see? What caused this to happen? Hya thought. He covered his face in his hands and was suddenly stressed out. “Hya? Are you okay?” someone asked placing a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see Tatian. “Tatian?” Hya asked. Tatian sat beside him on the bench. “Is something troubling you, Hya?” she asked. “No… I-it’s nothing.” he replied. Tatian got a sudden sad look on her face, then stood up with Hya behind her and walked to the car. She sets the sleeping Konan in the back seat, buckling her up and getting in the passengers seat. Hya got in the drivers seat and started to drive towards the hospital.
When Hya got to the hospital, it was dark out. They walked to the building and to the waiting room. “Tatian. I’m going to see if we can go and see Saisuke. Alright.” he told Tatian. “Alright.” She replied. She sat Konan in a chair, careful not to wake her. Hya walked to the reception desk and started to ask about Saisuke. The girl at the reception desk shook her head. “I’m sorry. We can’t allow you to see him at the moment. They’ve been working on him for quit awhile now, but they should be done tomorrow morning. Okay.” she said. Hya sighed. “Alright.” he said walking to the waiting room and shook his head. Can’t see him today, but she said that they will be done with him tomorrow morning.” Hya said. “Oh no. Then it must be really bad.” Tatian said. Hya nodded his head. “It’s really bad. When they pulled him out of the car, he was all cut up and bruised. They also removed his helmet and he had blood running from his forehead, from his mouth. It’s really bad.” he said. Tatian got a sad look on her face, and looked at the floor, griping her pants. It can’t be. He can’t go. Tatian thought.
