[Theory] Rin's death, my theory

So I was looking at someone's thread about how maybe kakashi was under genjutsu or being controlled when he killed Rin. So I decided to look back at those chapters and noticed something, it's subtle and could quite possibly mean nothing but if you read this page

One of the mist ninja notices that Kakashi has killed rin and says "****, he got us."
Which made me think, why us? And my theory is
Rin was a mist ninja spy. I think that the Mist had sent her there to gather information on Minato, who at that time was the biggest asset of the leaf village during the ninja war.
"After we worked so much to get it!" could refer to the information she gathered.
And then we see them say to retrieve the body, now that could be because the way she got the information could mean it's still retrievable even after death, or it could just be the general protocol, like when an anbu is dying in the field they're supposed to destroy their body.

So I think Rin could've been a spy, I'm not saying it's absolute, I'm saying it's possible and I personally am going with that theory.
Whether she was conscious of the fact that she was a spy or not I don't know.

She could always have had a change of heart at the last second and Kakashi vouched for her to Minato, or she was unaware of the fact that she was a spy, Or maybe Minato just forgave her or still considered her his student idk

More over Hidden mist's Fourth Mizukage was controlled by Madara, then Obito so it might be Madara's strategy so as to win over Obito to his side for his plans......

We have also heard that Fourth Mizukage disappeared after third ninja war makes it plausible IMO.....

Maybe Kakashi protecting her name and reputation was his way of protecting her for obito seeing as he failed him.

But yeah I see where you're coming from I guess only time, and Kishimoto will tell.

Hmmm I have to agree.If they needed her body for experiments Kakashi would just have to save her,or take her away from them or destroy the whole body.Plus if the mist ninjas wanted her body they wouldn't be disappointed when he killed her because they still had the advantage of number against Kakashi.So the mist wanted her for information or needed her body alive.
Kakashi promised Obito to protect Rin.I believe that he tried to keep that promise to an extent.I think that even if Kakashi knew the truth about Rin being a spy he hide it from his superiors to protect her honor and her memory.That's why she was buried as a Konoha ninja.Or maybe Rin had a change of heart,she always had the hots for Kakashi.
Anyway I believe that even if Rin was a spy not many people knew it.Kakashi was alone in that mission with her, if he superiors knew it they would never let him go alone in such an important mission.

i personally think rin and kakashi were on a reconnassaince mission and rin discovered something, she was noticed and hence the kiri ninja wanted her to keep there secrets safe
