"If the world is made of light and darkness... we'll be the darkness."

Basic Information
Name: Riku
Nickname: The Icebound Warrior
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Clan: Yuki

Looks:

Riku is a somewhat well-built, though not exactly considered muscular per say, youth with facial features somewhere between angular and rounded. His eyes are a blue green color and he has a rather pale complexion. Riku is slightly over average height for his age. Recently, he has changed his appearance slightly. He has recently cut his swept back silver hair so that it does not go past his shoulders, and has also changed his wardrobe. He now wears a white and yellow vest with a high black collar that goes up to his chin, but he usually leaves it unzipped so that it doesn’t cover the front of his neck. In addition, he wears baggy blue denim jeans with a belt that are tucked into a pair of white, yellow, and black sneakers. He also sports a black wristband on both of his wrists. Riku almost never wears his Kirigakure headband, but during times of war or other extremely important missions that he carries out for his village, he has been known to wrap the headband around his right bicep.

Personality:

As a teenager, Riku is about as calm and collected as they come. He is capable of keeping his head in even the most dire and dangerous of situations, and though not as smart as so-called child geniuses such as Shikamaru, his calm nature and his fairly high intellect allows him to come up with impressive strategies within moments. Riku has at times struggled with the thin line between what is right and wrong in the ninja world, and at times his emotions of jealousy and rage have managed to get the better of him and cloud his judgment. However, this was a trait that for the most part he has managed to shake of as he grew in age.

Riku can also be a very competitive individual, as a result of his at times jealous nature. This trait drives him to become a stronger shinobi and to persevere even when in the face of a far more powerful opponent. Despite any bad personality traits that Riku may possess, he is undyingly loyal to his friends and would do anything to protect them, even if it means destroying himself and becoming that which he despises.

Village of Birth: Nearby Kirigakure
Village of Alliance: N/A

Rank//Chakra Info.
Ninja Rank: Sage (by post count)
Specialty:

Ice Release: Riku is naturally talented in his usage of the ice element. Riku has been praised as one of the most gifted ice element users across the Ninja World, falling short behind only a few masters of the element. Riku depends on this element highly in battle, and has mastered it to a point where he has created his very own techniques for the element, from being able to create large wings of ice to calling forth a deadly hydra to bring down his foes.

Close-Combat: Riku is a force to be reckoned with when engaged in close combat. His speed, even for a member of the Yuki Clan, is one of his most notable natural traits that his opponents first notice. His reactions are above-average, and his ability to strike back before his foes have a chance to respond as a result of impeccable timing is usually worth noting. In addition, Riku is extremely skilled with kenjutsu. Most often, when in close combat, he depends on his sword Way to Dawn, a curious blade that Riku uses quite often in battle.

Intelligence: Riku's intelligence and deduction skills have been honed by both experience and a naturally sharp mind. Even with his young age, his ability to come up with complex strategies in a short amount of time and in dire situations makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Hyouten Customs

(Hyouten: Furosuto Haji) Ice Style: Frost Grip
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will imbue their hands with a massive amount of ice chakra. For five turns, the user's hands will gain a blue glow and certain ice-related powers. For one, anything the user touches begins to turn into ice. E.g. If the user touches a tree, the entire tree is encased in ice, still in the form of a tree though. The user can also touch the ground to make an area of 10 yards in every direction turn into ice, though an ice-user able to use this jutsu is also an ice-user that is able to stand on the ice easily without slipping. If the user touches a lake or river, the entire body of water will become frozen, despite its size. This jutsu also affects people that the user touches, if using a taijutsu move that involves using your hands, or simply by touching the opponent, they will be completely frozen.
Note: The jutsu itself lasts five turns, although the user must wait 3 turns between using it. If the user does use it before those 3 turns are done, both hands are completely fozen in ice, stopping them from using a jutsu to free themselves, that spreads along the users arm and body, encasing them in ice in a single turn.
Note: The user can freely release this jutsu along the ground in a form similar as Chidori Nagashi, by placing their hands on the ground, and releasing it from all angles around them, freezing the ground around them for 30 yards instead of 10. This can only be done if the jutsu has been active for less than three turns (and including the third turn). If active for more, the jutsu will not have maintained enough chakra to successfully do this. When this ability is used, the jutsu is released and the user can't use it again for 4 turns as stated above.
Note: This jutsu freezes nearly anything that the user touches, meaning that if the user has a weapon or even attempts to throw a kunai, it is encased in ice, making it unbearably heavy. This does not apply to the user if they are of Kage rank or above.
Note: This jutsu can only be used 4 times per battle.

(Hyouten: Touketsu Hydra) Ice Style: Frozen Hydra
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra Cost: N/A
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will create a hydra of ice. The hydra can be created in one of two ways, it can be created in whole, meaning that it's a body, tail, and three heads (that it starts off with) and will be as large as about five tall trees stacked on top of each other. The second way, is that the heads can emit from a source of ice (like a frozen lake). The hydra, like all hydra's, will grow two heads for every one that is sliced off (if it is made from a source of ice, then more heads will emit from the source). The hydra starts off with 3 heads, and can have a maximum of 10. When the maximum is reached, and if a head still comes off, that head will come back but no additional one. The hydra has extremely sharp teeth that can rip through something as thick as a tree, and can shoot out a freezing blast of ice that's equal to its rank.
Note: The user must wait 3 turns between use of this and can only use it 4 times per battle.
Note: The hydra can stay for 5 turns.
Note: After those five turns, the hydra will lose the ability to regrow heads, and two heads will be dispersed per turn.
Note: The hydra is only rideable by an experienced ice user (Kage), and anyone else who rides it, including allies, will be frozen where they stand.
Note: If the user makes the hydra emit from a source of ice, it can become a full hydra at any time. It can also sink into a source of ice if it is a complete hydra. When it is in a source of ice, only the heads show, and they can sink in and come back up at any time.
Note: The hydra can disperse itself or any of it's heads at any time. If a head is dispersed, the opponent is attacked with ice senbon. If the entire hydra is dispersed, senbon will rain on most of the battlefield, excluding where the user stands.

(Hyouten: Hando of Jakki Shimo) Ice Style: Hand of Jack Frost
Rank:S
Type:Attack
Range:Short-Long
Chakra Cost:40 (+10 for every additional time used)
Damage:80
Description:The user will place their hand on any object on the battle field and a blue, frozen hand of ice will appear anywhere throughout that object (Example: If the user places their hand on a tree then they can make the hand appear anywhere throughout the tree, on a branch, the top of the tree, anywhere). The hand has three, unique abilities. It can grab the opponent and make spikes all over its hand stabbing the opponent. It can also morph into either a giant ice sword to stab the opponent. And finally it can shoot an extremely cold blast from its hand freezing the opponent or the ground under and around the opponent. The user can also run their chakra through the something, and make it continue running to somewhere else. (Example: The user runs their chakra through the ground, and then runs it into a tree which is attached to the ground.) If a hand is destroyed, it shatters, leaving the enemy to deal with ice senbon that rain down upon them if they are within short-range.
Note: Can only be used 4 times per battle.
Note: Once this jutsu is used the user must wait 2 more turns to use it again.
Note: If this is used more than once then it takes up 5 more chakra than the last time.
Only useable by Riku..

(Hyouton: Shimo Hishou) Ice Style: Frost Flight
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user will use their ice chakra to burst out of their backs and solidify into two large wings made of ice that will protrude out of their backs. Both wings are around the same size as the user (similarly sized to when Sasuke used to go into his second curse seal stage). The main function of these would be, obviously, allowing their user to fly into the air, however the ice wings have several other functions. The wings are also capable of releasing multiple ice senbon when fully spread out that all rush towards the opponent (this can be done by spreading one wing or both). The wings are also capable of acting as a defense mechanism, allowing the user to cocoon themselves within the wings. In this stage, they are capable of defend the user from enemy jutsu, projectiles, or taijutsu. The wings are consistently releasing a small amount of cool mist, simply radiating from themselves, and therefore whenever the wings move in flight the mist surrounds the user from being spread around. Anyone near the user while the wings are moving (so this only applies when the user is flying), or anyone who touches these wings will begin to be slowly frozen (slowly enough that it still allows them to possibly save themselves, but the freezing starts from the hand, or foot, that they touched the wing with, beginning with a bluish radiance and then slowly encasing them). The wings allow the user to move in the air at a much quicker pace then they would at the ground. This jutsu is done relatively quickly, and when the user does this, they can choose to already be in a cocoon form if necessary (similarly to how when Sasuke first went his curse seal level 2 mode he was already being defended by the wings when they appeared).
Note: May only be used twice per battle and lasts three turns each time (must wait at least two turns, excluding the turn it deactivates, before doing this again).
Note: If the user uses the ice wings to protect them from a jutsu, it only protect against fire A-rank and lower, one S-rank jutsu, two A-rank jutsu (excluding fire), OR three B-rank jutsu. Emphasis on "or," meaning it can only do one of those, if the opponent uses two B-ranks and one S-rank, for example, the user cannot defend against the S-rank jutsu using the wings, not fully anyway. These jutsu can be blocked periodically (meaning that if the opponent uses one B-rank blocked by this, and then a few turns later the user blocks another B-rank using this, and another later, it is considered valid). After doing blocking any combination of the said jutsu ranks, the wings are both destroyed.
Note: The wings can only shoot out ice senbon twice per battle.

(Hyouten: Kyojin of Sono Tougen) Ice Style: Giants of the Tundra
Rank:Forbidden
Range:Short-Long (depends on the attack that they're using)
Type:Supplementary
Chakra:50 (drains 5 more chakra per turn, per giant)
Damage:100
Description:The user creates massive giant(s) made of ice. The giants basically are humongous, crystalized creatures that have some human features, such as hands and feet, but the features of their face are more gruesome than a normal humans. The giant is about as big as a two trees stacked atop each other. The user can make up to two giants. The giants are able to do simple attacks of course, swinging arms, kicking, etc. A hit by any of the ice giants’ attacks freezes the opponent as well as touching the giant (this doesn’t apply to the user). The giants are also able to make giant spears/javelins to throw at the enemy. An attack would be mid-range while a throw would be long range. When a giant is destroyed, he freezes a short range area around him.
Note: The giants get slightly smaller after each turn and after 6 turns they melt into ice due to the user supporting two things at once.
Note: If two giants are made then this time limit is cut in half and they melt in 3 turns due to the user needing to support 3 things at once: themselves, and the two giants.
Note: Only useable 1 time in battle.
Useable only by Riku..

History:

A Year Later

So… where’d we leave off?

It’s been a year since Sora and I fought Xemnas side by side, and the time’s gone by like nothing. Since then, as I told Sora and Kairi, I began travelling the world in search of answers to the enigma that was Ansem and his apprentices. My search began in Konohagakure. Being that the last time I saw Xemnas was when he, Sora and I fought in the Fire Country, it seemed as good a place to start as any. I guess that’s where we’ll pick things up.

When I first arrived at Konoha, as I passed through one of its many training fields, I was approached by a man who I had never seen before. Of course, it wasn’t my first time in Konoha, I helped them out so much in the past that I was practically one of their own shinobi at this point, but it was my first time being back in a while, and apparently quite a few things had changed. He said nothing at first, only pounced out at me and attacked viciously.

At first I was more than confident that I could handle this man, but he was as fierce a fighter as they come. By this time, I had nearly mastered my ability to use my ice release in battle, I was even known quite well for it, but his mastery over water far surpassed mine, he seemed to be a complete master with all five of the elements in fact, despite me having to train with it constantly in order to begin mastering my kekkei genkai in the first place. His ninjutsu was flawless, but he was an all-around fighter nonetheless. When I got in close for a taijutsu bout, his speed outshined mine, when I moved far away to make an attempt at a battle of ninjutsu, he bombarded me with powerful techniques, and when I came back in again to see if he could outmatch me in kenjutsu as I withdrew Way to Dawn, he proved that he was the better in that respect as well. Each movement was calculated. Each technique was timed flawlessly.

And just when I got to a point that I thought that I may be able to handle him yet, he lifted his headband to reveal a scarlet red eye.

This man was known as Kakashi Hatake, the Copy Cat Ninja.

He finally let up on me, and we had a moment to talk. I explained to him only what I needed to, saying that I was originally from Kirigakure and currently had business in his village. It seemed for a moment that he would inquire as to what that business was, but suddenly he seemed to change his mind. He asked only if I would agree to assist Konoha during my time here. When I answered affirmatively, he welcomed me into the village, even offering a slight apology for his quick actions.

Kakashi wasn’t the only powerful shinobi in the Hidden Leaf, there were plenty others.

My arrival just about paralleled the time of another person’s grand return, though they were of far more importance than me. A guy just about my age who was known as Naruto Uzumaki. Hence, my arrival went rather unnoticed, and I quickly blended into the scene around Konoha. Of course, all the while I was searching for some clue; some hint about Ansem’s apprentices but… nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Although I did meet a rather… interesting individual.

Her name was Namine.

She wasn’t a shinobi, nor did she ever say that she was actually a villager of the Hidden Leaf. She was only staying here apparently. She too was originally from Kirigakure, and mainly for that reason we befriended one another rather quickly.

A Message

On one particularly unremarkable day about a month into my stay in Konoha, I received a note. At this point I was staying in a small home just outside of the village, and when I went there, I saw a messenger hawk flying away, and left behind, on my windowsill, was a note. The note was in an envelope sealed with a peculiar looking crest. I unsealed the letter to find only one sentence written.

We will meet when the world is distracted.

I had no idea what exactly that was supposed to mean, but I could guess pretty easily who it was from. He wasn’t hiding from me. He was waiting. Perhaps before Xemnas wanted nothing to do with me, and I was drawn into this by my demented father, but he was letting me come to him now. But when he would appear… I couldn’t tell.

I still kept searching for more clues about Xemnas’s whereabouts while also trying to decipher his message, but nothing really happened. The months passed and I took to helping out around Konoha as a full-fledged member of the village. In time I began teaching young shinobi, though I never gained an actual team, no matter how many times the offer to become a team captain was made. I was in Konoha for one reason, and becoming a team captain would only serve to make me lose sight of that reason. All the while, I also continued to hone my abilities with the ice element, while also training myself to suppress the darkness that still resided within me after being placed there by Ansem. It was an ability that I promised to myself long ago never to use again, nor would I let myself fall under its influence.

Time passed without any real accident nor incident. However, about two months after my stay, Namine went missing. Originally, I didn’t think much of it, but after a week with no sign of her and me not being able to recall her saying anything about leaving, I made a request to search for her.

Where exactly to begin that search, I had no idea. In the end, it ended up not really mattering anyway.

Only a few weeks after I set out, when I was just around the eastern border that the Fire Country shared with the Wind Country, I was approached by a figure wearing a full black robe, quite similar to the one that Xemnas wore on our last meeting. His hood was pulled over his head; refusing to show his face for the time being.

Finally decided to show yourself, huh?

He chose to ignore the question, and only directed me to a small house. I looked at him curiously; did he really expect me to just go with him? However, he didn’t wait for me when he went in. Only gestured for me to follow and walked away. And… what could I honestly do? Not walk into a trap and risk never seeing him again?

Reluctantly, Way to Dawn in one hand, I walked into the house, slowly creeping in to find what may lay in wait. When I walked in, though, I found not what I expected. Xemnas wasn’t here.

Tall Tales and Short Apologies

When I walked through the door, I was face to face with Ansem.

For a fleeting moment, I thought that I may be simplest to lash out right away and attack. But he looked… different. He wasn’t wearing the clothes that he wore before when going under the persona of DiZ. His face wasn’t wrapped in bandages and when he spoke to me, he didn’t speak in riddles as he would when I was younger in an attempt to cloud his true intentions. For once, it appeared as though I was genuinely speaking to my father for what he was. But he still used me, he was still little more than a madman in my eyes. Right before I could make the decision to attack or listen, something else struck me.

There was still the matter of the cloaked figure who came up to me and prompted me into this house, and I was awe-struck when the person took off their robe and revealed herself to be Namine. Questions flooded into my mind as to how the two knew each other and why they had, I believe that at this point it was obvious, worked to lure me here.

Namine spoke first, prompting me to listen to Ansem at least. Though I was skeptical, I really had no choice. If I didn’t listen to whatever he had to say now, I was back at square one in Konoha without a single thing to go off of.

Fine… What do you want Ansem?

He was silent for a while, and then went off to explain himself.

First and foremost… I want to apologize. You were right, I was a bitter old man looking for revenge and to that extent dragged a child into a deadly conflict. That, however, I cannot take back, and in order to move forward, the two of us are going to have to work together. You can choose to believe me or not, honestly as old as I am I’ll probably be long gone before any of this affects me, but I assure you that I’m telling you the truth, as Namine here can testify to. Now… as for why you’re here.

He swallowed hard as if thinking where to begin.

It would seem that my apprentices along with seven others have formed a group that they refer to as Organization XIII. Their goals are… rather unclear. But I believe that it has something to do with the catastrophe that I told you about earlier; the one that nearly resulted in Kirigakure’s destruction and made me into an outlaw. When that happened, something… changed my apprentices, and apparently the others that they recruited have something in common. I don’t know how, but I believe that they plan to reverse the effects of whatever changed in them. However, and this is the part that I know for sure, changing them back into what they once were would require them to somehow access the power of the Juubi, the original and most powerful bijuu. That is the level of chakra that they require to achieve their goal, whatever it may be. This information was not discovered by me, but a close friend of mine, a man who you will meet in due time known as Yen Sid.

The entire idea seemed like something out of a badly written and poorly developed book, and I didn’t even want to drag this out longer by asking who in the world Yen Sid was. But to that extent I pushed Ansem to explain himself further.

And what in them… changed?

I don’t know. My research had to do with the study of the heart and spirit. Many far-fetched and some ridiculous ideas, but they took one of those ideas to another level. Which idea they took and to what extent they took it to are the mystery here.

But… the Juubi is long gone. I mean, there’s no way that they’re going to manage to access it or even come anywhere close… right?

I thought the same thing. But that’s where Akatsuki comes in. Organization XIII hasn’t shown itself yet because they don’t need to. They plan to allow Akatsuki to do the work for them, and then, right when Akatsuki’s goal is achieved and the Juubi is brought forth, they plan to emerge. Whatever they use the Juubi’s massive chakra for, it could very well cause complete catastrophe in the Ninja World. Maybe even its destruction. Tobi plan’s to become the Juubi’s jinchuuriki, and while that is a dangerous idea in itself, Xemnas’s plan to use the Juubi’s chakra and release it right off the bat is even more insane. The mere idea of it…

Ansem stopped speaking after that and an eerie silence fell over the room. Before I answered anything, I had another question.

Namine, why are you here?

Ansem began to speak, but he saw that I wanted an answer from her; I was still skeptical on anything that he said.

Because Ansem needed me to get you here. There was no way that you would willingly meet him, would you?

I shook my head.

You know that’s not what I mean, I figured out that much myself. I mean how do you know each other, where’s your place in all of this?

How do we know each other? Well, I am his daughter after all.

It was really weird how I would just have these random times in my life when a bunch of information would be thrown at me at once. It was getting kinda old if you ask me.

Ansem let the moment linger for a while, and then spoke again.

And you’re answer? Will you help?

I refuse to use the powers of your dark release again.

Ansem simply shrugged helplessly at that.

I am not asking you to. I am only saying that you may find that your power alone is not enough for what you’ll have to deal with.

After he said that, I turned and walked out, but he called after me.

And where are you going now?

I don’t think that an old man and his two kids, one of which isn’t even a shinobi, are going to be enough to stop an Organization apparently more powerful than Akatsuki. Unless you think differently, then we’re going to need allies.

It was at this time that Ansem told me about the war that had just been declared only a few days ago, and only a while before. I recalled the message, “We will meet when the world is distracted.” Suddenly it made perfect sense. Ansem wanted to fight a war behind the scenes. While Akatsuki fought against the world, he wanted to fight Organization XIII. The attack on Konoha only a couple of weeks ago… he must have known about that as well and arranged for Namine to leave just before that, so that I would do so as well. You had to hand it to the guy, he had his ways.

Ansem said that it would be difficult to find allies for such a battle while the war was going on, but we both knew people that we could go to. I would have to find them before the war began, but there were at least two people in this world who would without a doubt help. Ansem would find me when he needed me, he always did.

The Gathering

The journey to Kirigakure was quick, it had to be. I made sure that I managed to get to the village within days; travelling on almost a nonstop basis. When I arrived, I was lucky to find that Sora and Kairi were both still in the village, just preparing to set out.

I explained everything to them as quickly as I could, and though they were skeptical, Sora remembered our fight with Xemnas and honestly wasn’t completely surprised to find all of this out. He knew that Xemnas was… something else. An enigma of some sorts that there seemed to be no true answer to, even after we managed to defeat him.

If we managed to defeat him.

With that, we set out, and our first job was to find this Yen Sid person. It seemed like he was the guy with all of the information.

I simply hope that we aren’t walking to our deaths.
