It's almost as if he had a split personality in this sense. He often thinks of the universe in general and how his own actions would affect the world rather than just him. Background Info.
History:
Well... where should I start? At birth, well actually, I have pretty much no idea of what happened before I was 6 years old. And I only remember that one day, my sixth birthday, when Akatsuki attacked my home, and basically went on a slaughter fest. I never saw it, I only saw two of the members walk in, and afterwards, I only could make out two devastating things: the shrieks of my fellow villagers, and the sight of a village, buried in its own ash.
For the next few years, well more than a few, nearly 6 years actually, I fought for myself. Through the years, I discovered my unique ability, the ability to use hyouten, the ability to manipulate ice. And by my luck, the place where I wandered was a tundra-like climate. Through those years, I couldn't help but to upgrade my knowledge and skill in hyouten. I was able to sense everything that was on ice/snow, or anything that ice/snow was on, and that ability replaced my eyes, in this place. Wolves, bears, nothing caught me by surprise. The years a spent training and practicing on my own only strengthened my resolve to somehow find a way to those two who killed my parents, even if it meant tearing through each and every person in Akatsuki.
The years in the tundra, the Lich’s Tundra by name, sent me through the biggest change of my life. While I was there, I was turned into a monster, bent only on survival, the type of survival that many would refer to as inhumanity, and I accepted that. Emotions no longer mattered, those who died in my village, no longer mattered. The only thing that mattered was surviving, but even though I tried to survive every day of my life, if I was to die right then and there, it would no longer matter either.
About half way through the six years that I wandered through the harsh wilderness, I found a small cave, a home, if you will. The cave that I lived in sheltered me, for quite a while, the greater portion of the last year that I spent in that wretched place. Until of course, an Akatsuki experiment gone wrong found me.
The battle was a short one as far as I knew, caught in genjutsu for most of the time, I had only caught glimpses of the man. But none of his face, as soon as the battle started, I suddenly felt oddly weak, like my entire body was failing me just because of his presence. Tenzu was his name. While I was in the genjutsu, all I could hear was another fight behind me. Tenzu was one of them, I recognized his voice, but the second voice was alien to me. The man managed to stall Tenzu and took me with him. But little did I know, that this was the voice of my master. Shinru.
During the next 3 years, I went through rigorous training with Shinru. The first year barely contained any exciting parts, mostly consisted of gaining my “humanity” back and meditating to find me “latent potential,” but the next two years were the best of my life. Being an ice user himself, Shinru was the only person who could train me, and even if he wasn’t, no other sensei suited me best. But after only a few months into training, I no longer considered him as a sensei, he was now my father. A new Riku was born.
Of course, Akatsuki eventually found me, found us. After a long battle, the Akatsuki ninja, with an unconscious Shinru on his back, was gone. Thus began my journey across the world of ninja.
My trip first took me to the Hidden Cloud Village, a place where I only stayed for a matter of days, maybe a week, before moving on.
At one point, I would eventually meet the lizards. I gained mastery over summoning them under my teacher, and became able to summon all lizards, their boss included.
Eventually, I came to the Village Hidden in Leaves. Due to my prowess in battle, I quickly moved up the ranks there and became a ninja of the Anbu Black Ops under Anbu Kakashi. I stayed with Anbu for a while, quite a long while, and eventually climbed up the ranks there to captain, and later became its leader when no others could take up the job when Anbu Kakashi had taken his leave. My time as leader of the Black Ops was short; we were weak compared to our enemies. Anbu died out in terms of threat yet again, as it had numerous times before.
It was then that I left Konoha, and it was then that I also heard rumors of other surviving Hyouten users other than myself and my master. It was only shortly after that that by coincidence I would run into Jace Beleren. While with Jace, I began to study the rain element, after Jace having told him that a hyouten user would little trouble using rain. I, as Jace said, grasped the concept quickly. Later, the two would run into Kawagiri, yet another fellow user of ice.
We three then began to form a village of our own. The Village Hidden in Ice: Aisugakure. This place would be a home to skilled hyouten and rain users alike. We decided to co-lead it, all of us with equal power, and began to gather hyouten users. Not many were found, but our power is still great. Because of us, hyouten will once again be known.

Description: Soul Eater is the name of Riku's blade, peculiar in both appearance and abilities. Being Riku’s regular blade, he is able to have it in the beginning of the battle without summoning it but will lose chakra equal to if he did summon it during the battle. Soul Eater is a red sword, and on the blade of the sword is a blue trim, along with blue stripes on four places on the sword. A blue eye with a black pupil is found where the hilt is. On each side of the handle is a wing, one the wing of an angel and one of a demon. When this sword is stabbed into the ground, the user may make spikes of ice protrude from the earth in the form of one large ice spike (B rank) stabbing the opponent or three to four spikes surrounding the opponent, making a tent-like formation around them. Certain ice jutsu can also be carried out through this blade, such as sending a beam or a blast of ice, as well as make a dome or a protective wall. Ice jutsu carried out through the blade will be one rank more powerful. The blade is unique to Riku, so any time the blade is out of his hand, it will return to his hand at his will. A beam of ice can also be shot from the eye of the blade (also B rank). There are other moves unique to the blade (will be made as customs).
