Render of the week

Title says it all. I think that ROTW would be a good idea and that GFXers would love to try their rendering skills. The principle is same as for every other GFX contest. People suggest themes, someone from staff picks the theme and people try their best to find a stock that fits the theme and render it. After a given time for rendering, people post their work and other vote for it. Prizes should be same as for the other contests.

Bi-weekly sounds good too. The core idea is important for now, those little tweaks can be discussed later, between staff members.

The rules are already written, the only thing needed would be the host and to be hones you could ask the host from opb to host it here.

This would make getting a cyan name and 150x300 so easily, same with an avatar of the week.
If this should be implemented it should be monthly not weekly.
Considering the amount of people we have on NB the amount of submissions would be gigantic, as rendering is super easy.

tl;dr no, too much work for mods and lowers the value of 150x300 avy's and cyan names.

tl;dr no, too much work for mods and lowers the value of 150x300 avy's and cyan names.

The amount of submissions shouldn't be a problem since there will only be one winner, and hosting this doesn't require a mod.
The amount of people with Cyan names is quite low for a forum of 100,000 members and most contests here are going slower lately.

Renders are a hassle to go through...Dont think mods, host or whoever would enjoy the idea of making sure entries wernt ripped off from render sites , even with a given theme Im sure someone will find a similar if not exact render needed for the said theme & take credit

I have to say, i like the idea It sounds fun and it could really be interesting, hope it gets approved.
About finding someone to host it, i don't think it is that hard... from what i know you don't have to be a mod or an admin to do it.
I would offer to do it, or help with whatever would be needed, i just don't know how to check if the entry was already made and the user just copy pasted it... Besides doing that, i don't see any problem.

If you suspect a submission to be a ripoff, you can find the render you believe to be the original and open in it in Photoshop and put atop of it the submission you believe to be a ripoff, fill the bottom render's layer in black and see if any black parts show, if none show rearrange them so that the one you believe to be a ripoff in the bottom one and if still nothing shows, you've caught a cheater, if part of the bottom layer show at any point then you're just a bad loser : P
This is also the same case with SOTW, It's very possible to get signatures from GFX forums which aren't indexed by google and can't be found by reverse image searching, is that a good enough reason to stop organizing sotw? No.

Your Sig part is agreed with, but its not the submitters job to show another persons entry is a rip off, if they come across it somewhere else or they feel they should then fair enough (Knowing there arnt many that would) but this is the host's responsibility (Hence the reason why most host's are mods because people would trust there judgement over a random person's) & seeing as rendering is not as hard as creating a sig I'm sure plenty of people would think they could get away with it.

Unless your willing to spend your own personal time going through lets say 30 submissions of renders to see if they have been ripped off or not

No one needs to check 30 submissions, If one submission seems fishy, let's say a total noob made it who lacks gfx knowledge and it looked too good to be his, and is winning, and very familiar, usually someone will check if it's a ripoff, if it was in on the bottom of the vote and sucks anyways, there will be no need to check it in the first place
Believe me, If a ripoff makes it to the top three, it will be caught by either the host or a competitor then reported to a mod
