If they can play what they perform on the guitar, they have to have some degree of talent in it. You're confused with what is and can be considered one thing while still being inferior to some. Music is, at its very core, loose, abstract, and non-conformist (does not bend to rules set forth by others, except for mathematical laws placed upon it). Music can be defined as anything someone can do when they manipulate sound waves with anything they have. If they have even the most miniscule degree of proficiency with this, they are a musician. Saying being a musician has boundaries to cross is demeaning the very definition of music itself, because you are applying rules to it.
