Dude without the bible there isnt a christianity.
... and? How is this relevant to my post?Dude without the bible there isnt a christianity.
Still has nothing to do with my post.I wont convert to a foreskin reducing cult, thank you.
The common denominator for christianity is the holy bible.
You and deadlift were talking about Christianity influencing western morals and then you said that that influence is only cherry picking and is ignoring the Old Testament.I dont see your question.
Don't really care for whether or not the big bang is true, but who's to say that dense particle of matter wasn't put their by God? The universe is too perfect to just happen by chance (I'm certain you've heard this argument before). But matter and energy existed before the universe as one extremely dense, singular entity that exploded outwards. As matter cannot be created or destroyed, it too would have no beginning, or creation, and would thus also predate time and the universe itself.
Wow, you answered him better than me.Wall of Text
Thats right however thats only half the truth esspecially protestants are also interested in the old testament. You and deadlift were talking about Christianity influencing western morals and then you said that that influence is only cherry picking and is ignoring the Old Testament.
The reason why I told you to differentiate between the Bible and Christianity is the fact that Bible is a collection of texts separated to Old and New Testaments while Christianity is centered around the teachings of Jesus Christ from the New testament.
The morals and laws of Christianity ie the influence cones from the New Testament not the Old therefore mentioning the Bible is pointless as the influence here doesn't come from the Bible but the religion that builds upon the teachings of scriptures that the Bible contains.
Wether or not the religion cherrypicked or not doesnt matter because the topic is the religion's laws.
Got it now?
I am a Catholic and I didn't say Christianity isn't tied to Old Testament. Instead, I said it centers its morals in the teachings of Jesus Christ (the New Testament). This goes for all main denominations (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant).Thats right however thats only half the truth esspecially catholics are also interested in the old testament.
Its not a wall of text dammit! It has proper punctuation and is esthetically pleasing!! :nuts:Wow, you answered him better than me.
Uhm no, if you are a Christian, whatever group, you consider the Gospel as the most important part, as Jesus is superior to the prophetsThats right however thats only half the truth esspecially protestants are also interested in the old testament.
Well to be fair there were and maybe still are sects that believe God in the OT is actually devil so I wouldnt vouch for all. :/Uhm no, if you are a Christian, whatever group, you consider the Gospel as the most important part, as Jesus is superior to the prophets

I agree with the bacon deal. :3Islam does that too. They both avoid pork... that must be tough... i mean bacon is love... bacon is life!
Gnosticism. They don't believe God in Old Testament is the devil, but a despotic demiurge called Samael. They also believe Jesus is not God but sort of a spiritual guide. It obviously is an heresy soWell to be fair there were and maybe still are sects that believe God in the OT is actually devil so I wouldnt vouch for all. :/
