Second picture is about Kisame fusing with Samehada, thus being able to breathe water. Having access to a jutsu which is normally a Kamikaze-attack isn't only beneficial to you, but to the opponent as well.

I don't see water prison taking Mei out while Kisame staying alive.​

Kisame has shark like feature naturally (gills @ his arms) unlike mei.

Kisame medium difficulty. The only attack Mei has that threatens kisame is acid mist. Kisame solo'd the 4 tails, who was a lava user. What is mei? A lava user.

GSB, and that water lake while fusing with samehada takes this.
