I'm not doubting that Lee could open all 8th gates but it comes to my mind that Kishi doesn't seem to intend to showcase Lee 6th or 7th gate attack simply because it would be a complete replica of Gai moveset. Lee has his own main base signiture moves that is front lotus and when going on gates, he uses reverse lotus. Lee Also has drunken fist.
Gai doesn't have any of these moves that I just explained up above which I find Lee to be more of a Unique character unlike Sarada being Tsunade 3.0. U_U I think it's best that we don't see Lee 6th or 7th gate to prevent a rehases of Gai.
It's the very same people complaining about Madara should have all the rinnegan abilities including all the 6th path especially the Deva Path but I call it BS because that would completely devalue Pain as a character, I'm so glad that Shinra Tensei sticks to only Pain Signiture moves. Not saying that Madara shouldn't have path power, I'm saying he should atleast to some degree but not all of them. Chibaku tensei is something too common that any Rinnegan user can posses. In fact atleast they don't degraded madara when his specialty in using rinnegan is Limbo which something even better than taking the Copy route.
Same thing can be said to the hyuga, Neji who have better moveset than Hinata, she doesn't have the rotation or 128 palms even with chakra needles and full body blow. Instead Hinata gets lionfist and can master with 64 palms.
I really hope metal lee is different than Rock Lee and Gai because this new generation was so unimpressive
