Despite the NarutoVerse being a fictional world, there have been a few hints of real world countries existing (or having once existed) in the NV. For example:
1. In the most recent Mitsuki one-shot, adult Mitsuki actually explained that the syllable "Mi" in Mitsuki came from some Chinese zodiac thing (don't remember the whole explanation, but I specifically remember Chinese zodiac). Well consider this: For there to have been a Chinese Zodiac (or a Chinese anything for that matter), wouldn't the country of China have to exist (or at the very least have to have existed at some point in the past) in the NV?
2. This other one was part 1 filler, but I still found it kind of humorous due to a certain irony. The episode was titled "Ino Screams! Chubby Paradise!" and it was season 8, episode 14 of part 1 Naruto. In this episode, Ino and Naruto had to help this chubby girl with her ordeals involving her engagement to this fat guy. Now here is the funny part that also references a real world country that I am talking about:
During one particular scene, the chubby girl asks, "Isn't it so nice to speak American and smell the roses?" or something to that effect. I found it humorous because I was watching subbed (not dubbed), so she was speaking Japanese. Yet she asks if it is nice to speak the language of a country that may or may not exist in the NV, and a language that certainly was not what she was speaking. This girl clearly has no clue about how English sounds (of course I did not watch it dubbed, so I don't know if she says this line in English dub and if she says the same words). Nevertheless, it is still interesting to think about the fact that this line referenced America, which could imply that (like China) America either exists or once existed in the NV (albeit non-canonically since this was filler).
What do you guys think? Just something to think about. If you remember any other references to real life countries in the NV, feel free to post them.
