Indeed.

1st. The jutsu mentions that the explosion happens due to the destabilization of the chakra stored inside the totem. When you place the seal, do you also place chakra (Being so that that is the chakra the description is referring to)? So you can turn any object into a totem, even if it doesn't have inherit chakra (Like a kunai, or a rock you pick from the ground, or a piece of clothing)

2nd. If it the chakra it refers to is about the chakra inside the object, and thus object would be a being that possesses a chakra system, and what the seal does is destabilize the chakra system and make it burst. So you could place the seal on an animal or even on the opponent, and turn them into a totem, and the following explosion would be basically the chakra system destroying itself (Which is what I had in mind). It would also allow the user to place the seal on a jutsu, and use the chakra that created the jutsu to distabilize it and make it explode, thus making out jutsus more damaging, or finishing an enemy technique (though it could backfire, since we need to touch the technique to place the seal (but can be bypassed).

3rd. I guess the real question is, what sort of "objects" can be turned into a totem?

4th. Regarding bypassing the technique, can it be preformed by Shadow Clones?

5th. Once you place the seal, how visible is it? Is it like a kanji that glows and then disappears? Is it more subtle? And what is the nature of the "seal" is it paper? Is it chakra that is carved into the surface of the object? (Fuuinjutsu noob here).

6th. Can the seal or even the activation order be overpowered by some sort of technique with an higher rank than it? (Say, S rank body chakra burst?)

7th. What's the size of the explosion, more or less? And is it proportional to size of the object (Tying with the chakra being hypothesis) or is it a standard size (Tying with the fixed injection of chakra when you place the seal hypothesis).

8th. When it say "used immediately" does it encompasses anywhere within the same turn, or like, right away with your body touching your opponent (Which would make it quite suicidal in order to not spend two moves).

I think that's it for now...
@ - 1. Pretty much. You use your own chakra to create the formulae and it's your own chakra stored inside it. As you said, this allows you to put the seal on pretty much anything.

@ - 2. Sorry, but the explosion is 'external' if so to speak. You give the chakra, yours is the chakra that explodes. You could call it a very advanced explosive tag, for a lack of better words.

@ - 3. Well, a 'totem' is simply the object or being that's marked with the seal. Anything from a shuriken to Gamabunta can be marked with the seal. All you need is space for the formulae and you're good to go. That means no peebles <_>

@ - 4. If you by 'bypassing' mean whether or not it can be performed by clones generally? Then yes. If you use your clone to activate the seal immediately after it's been placed, you've effectively created a suicide-bomber.

@ - 5. No glowing. It's simple black Kanji. Unless your opponent's looking at your hand with an MS/Byakugan, he/she won't notice a thing. Naturally, if they can sense/see chakra, they'll notice the seal after it's been applied.

@ - 6. Being a seal, the technique remains unaffected by chakra-bursts and the like. Most Ninjas have scrolls or equipment with the Lightning Blade Creation seal on them, and they sure as hell remain unaffected by full-body techniques.
Unless you place the seal on your enemy's clothing and he/she strips, they won't be able to 'accidentally' remove the seal with a burst.

@ - 7. The explosion's 'huge', reaching mid-range from whatever you've placed the seal on. That means a big fella like Gamabunta might be able to survive it, should you place it on his foot or arm.

@ - 8. Immediately means immediately, I'm afraid. It'll be ugly business unless you can get away quickly. The seal's good for a late-fight surprise or a NW prisoner though. Remember; it doesn't last for a specific amount of turns.

So you'd say the smallest possible object that would fit the seal would be a shuriken?

Also, can I place the seal on myself?

You must be registered for see images
The Kanji in the center (爆) is all you have to make room for. Due to the hole in the middle, a shuriken probably wouldn't be a good fit. The thickest point of a kunai would be the minimum, I'd say.
