kakashi and sasuke have both at 1 point (but not to each other or out loud *except when kakashi and jiraiya were of the hospital roof*) that the rasengan is more powerful then chidori. kakashi admitted that his tech is weaker than minatos.
im still a fan of the chidori though
To me their equal match because you can increase the chakre in the reasengan and you can increase the range of the chidori. If I would pick it would be chidori because it looks cooler and its a elemantal justu.
comparing both techs on naruto's and sasuke's hands won't solve anything
let's just consider rasengan vs chidori by ave. ninjas the result is more than clear no one can deny it ofcource rasengan user ll pawn the chidori user.
Are we doing this based on coolness or facts? Well here's my idea:
The updated chidori can be extended like a blade, can flow through weapons, and can be released in every direction allowing the user to affect multiple enemies, (like when Sasuke was practicing back when he was with Orochimaru and got every single target).

The updated rasengan or rasen-shuriken can be thrown, can greatly expand, and creates countless microscopic wind-blades that damage the body on a cellular level, then creates a huge wind sphere as an after-effect.

I think you said updated chidori and updated rasengan(as u said rasen shuriken) are equals, you are deadly wrong. In the battle on roof rasengan had an edge over chidori as kakashi said sasuke was using a stronger version vs simple rasengan
And after fight with Danzou another rasengan vs chidori happened, this time sasuke was using an updated version and naruto was using regular rasengan this time they were equals.
Hence proved that rasengan will always be on top against chidori.........
Yeah I gotta say Rasengan both for the rooftop incident and because it's been admitted throughout that Rasengan is stronger then Chidori....People have been on the right track noting that Naruto never intended to kill Sasuke and I believe that's what they cancel each other out....If Naruto intended to kill Sasuke I think that the Rasengan would over power the Chidori
