I'd say taking the people using them out of the equation rasengan is stronger than chidori. Kakashi saying chidori is just a failed attempt at making pretty much a raiton rasengan lends further proof to it.

No it's not. Kakashi not being able to fuse raiton to Rasengan is the same as Minato not being able to add wind to his Rasengan. Kakashi making Chidori because of than don't mean it's weaker that's dumb logic.

That's a good point, re reading it it doesn't make much sense for a strength basis, my bad. it is stronger though, destructive wise anyhow, I've never seen a rasengan go through anyone lol

Yea powerwise it's equal but in destruction Rasengan cause a bigger explosion/damage. While Chidori is more potent and precise though it can still blow stuff up.

When talking just Rasengan and just Chidori, they are equal when they clash as long as the user's power isn't drastically different, as shown by Naruto and Sasuke's various Rasengan and Chidori clashes taking place when they are on par and then equaling out. In terms of getting past defenses Chidori is far better because it has power equal to Rasengan's, but focused.

Rasengan was "better" in a battle sense since it lacks hand signs, less chakra and no visual drawbacks. but in shippuden, sasuke managed to get rid of all his flaws and took it to the next lvl with shape manipulation. logically TS sasuke should win every clash just because he can easily change it's shape to bypass rasengan and hit naruto with a mid run-chidori spear blitz but for some idiotic reason sasuke likes to clash with naruto with regular chidori despite knowing it'll only cancel out.

Rasengan is canonically stronger, both according to Jiraiya and their respective ranks.

It's funny, because canonically, a focused and concentrated Raiton is superior to Futon as stated by Kisame and as shown by the final battle where two attack failed to overpower a single arrow. Whereas Rasengan stalemates a Chidori.

As for the posed question, then Chidori is far superior as a piercing, deadly attack that holds an elemental advantage over Earth and Sand and even Futon if it's focused and powerful.

Raikiri is just more concentrated Chidori.Even if sauce was using it in part 2 you won't now it since he still calls it chidori

Slight disagreement there, as S stands for "secret" and "learning curve" for a tech. Before Kakashi hadn't taught Sasuke Chidori, it was still an S rank tech, given that Kakashi devised it himself. Pass it on to the student and the process loses its learning curve.

Furthermore, Raikiri is a moniker and Kakashi has shown no feats to focus Raiton on fewer fingers to make the stab more lethal and "focused" chakra is the sole thing that makes Raiton more deadly.

What if I add that chidori is only useful if you have a sharingan while rasengan is all time useful
