Why the hell are the other ninjas of Konoha so goddamn useless?

It's insulting enough that Konoha's "the strongest village" to have all its lackeys capable of no such feats. (again save for the main characters)

Well said, what are the other shinobis in konoha doing? Kakashi alone is fighting with two realms, other realms are screwing other people. What the hell are other shinobis of Konoha doing? I saw in the first scene of this manga some shinobis running away (Also one was saying don't shove ) Sakura came to defend the running people and killed the centipede in one shot (she isn't even a jonin) Where are the Chunins and Jonins of Konoha? If Pain has got power, Konoha has got mass. Also I'm wondering why Kishi didn't show Might Gai or any of his students in this manga. He showed almost all the other main characters.

Well, let's look at it this way.

Hokage Ranks in the Village: 1 MAYBE 2

Jonins: 10 or 11 >_<

Chuunin: 50-60

Genin: 120+


Here's the thing.

1. Most ninja don't have the chakra, the talent, or the patience to become a strong chuunin, let alone a jonin. The parents of the genin are, though, examples of strong chuunin.

2. Most ninja DIE in missions! It's survival of the fittest out there, and only a small percentage survive long enough to become chuunin, let alone jonin. The number of genin is practically halved before you reach chuunin.


So basically, you have to be born with the talent, you have to apply yourself, and you have to survive countless battles. The weak are thinned out as you go up the hierarchy of ninja ranks.

There aren't frequently ninja at the rank of Pein. Jonin are rare catches in themselves.
