Hiruzen was one nasty dude.. he is the only person who mastered almost all Konoha's jutsus both straight and forbidden. We saw his awesomeness during the Hokage battle..
Not to mention, Hiruzen was able to stop Oro's EDO jutsu which cancelled the summoning of the 4th Hokage. Also, Hiruzen was able to summon the death God by simply knowing the hand seals as describe by Minato.
At his prime, Hiruzen can out wit and topple down any Raikage past, present and future.
Old Hiruzen can beat A based on hype (canon), however both Kakashi and Gai (lol at A) can beat Hiruzen based on feats.
What's next? Tenten vs Sakumo? Tenten would win, so why make threads about people with only hype? It makes no sense to me....

Hiruzen in his prime cud defeat both A nd his Father 2-1 in his old age just A alone.
Becuz when fighting against Orochimaru, Hiruzen was forced to use the reaper death seal. Which wud end his life. In a fight against the impure world resurrection you have to be decisive and fast.
Compared to that. A wud have been child's play.

By what we have seen and read, Sarutobi. First, it is stated that Sarutobi was the only other person to be called the "God of shinobi" and someone so well versed in controlling his chakra and knowing every arts, dark or not, that he was also called the "Professor".
Second, we have seen a glimpse of what he could do even in his old age. Orochimaru summoned the first and the second, two legendary kages, and implanted talismans into them to restore them to their former selves in terms of power and abilities. Furthermore, only Madara was able to stand a chance against the first, although he stil lost. Well, Hiruzen was able to fight them off while being distracted by orochimaru. And this was while doing kage bunshin, which is know to distribute chakra evenly among all copies. So each was a weaker clone at the time fighting the former kages and orochimaru. Right now, the 5 present kages together, including a, is having a hard time with Madara. One of them also says in the newest chapter the 5 vs Madara is fair because, well, he is Madara. This all goes to show that Hiruzen may have been able to go toe to toe with Madara. (if a and b is true, then c is true logic).
So, with a young Hiruzen would have won against a, probably more so by logic...kinda like shikamrau did against the akatsuki member (I fail to remember his name, sorry).

even though it was a while back when we saw Hiruzen fought oro and died, hes still remarkable... all though he wasen't ''the god of the shinobis'' he was en titled with it... and he was stated by kabuto that he was a strongest current kage of hes era and iruka (i dont consider it true but kishi stated that iruka said it so...) said that Hiruzen was the strongest hokage.
even though hes old and lack of stamina, he still knows ALOT of ninjutsu... he also was said to know all of the jutsus that exists in konoha...
he has enma summon, lot of fire/earth ninjutsu and other ninjutsu that we haven't seen.
A in the other hand, yes hes fast and super strong... but cmon, he got almost beaten by a MS Sasuke... if Gaara didn't protect Sasuke with sand, sasuke would have got crushed and A would have burnt to death. I dont see how A is beating Hiruzen with Raiton Tajutsu and super speed.
its so sad that kishi killed off hiruzen so early, would have been nice to see him atleast as a edo summoning but to bad none of the hokages can be revived.

i agree that A<Hiruzen i would've loved to see a V.S between those too it sucks he died so quickly as you said

Sorry guys but I can't belive it.. Sarutobi's strongest thing was knowing how to create lots of elemental techniques. But in this time, elemental techniques are nothing..
Yea, he died too early and he was old.. Altough he still live in this time he wasn't more skilled than other Kages with techniques what he had..

Can you mention any of those techniques? This is why Hiruzen should be banned from the versus section since they don't do him justice.The guy is the strongest kage in history(and in his old age), yet we can't really judge him here because we didn't see enough of him (feats).Although, enma and reaper death jutsu should/could make it interesting.
