i liked yamato a lot - the scary face, his history with kakashi... i would be really sad if he died, but i don't think he did... that was just a lame way to go for such an important character. i'd say he's still in that cave somewhere.

Oh my god that is so where he is right now. That explains the Senju DNA nicely and how Orochimaru might be able to get control over this war.

If Orochimaru is suddenly able to have Madara under his command...things could change very quickly. But I can just imagine, when Madara's defeated the paper fading away and Yamato's dead body remaining. That would be so sad and it's better than awkwardly looking for the cave then finding him.
