Because apparently you can use Hashirama cells in order to strengthen the reincarnation like what Orochimaru did with the 4 Kages and seeing how we haven't seen him since he got taken by Kabuto I think there is a good chance that Edo Madara is Yamoto.

Without a living body one can't resurrect a dead even if a shell of the dead
Later on after joining Akatsuki, Kabuto went on to the island to capture Yamato
