All of us are probably, or have used, an apple device in our lifetime.

I'm shocked. This news hit me like crazy. I actually didn't know he had cancer. I feel really sad.

I knew he had cancer and it was said that he was dying, but than they thought he might map it. The reason why he retired from Apple/stepped down as CEO.

Apple has just confirmed the death of Steve Jobs on Wednesday, October 5th at the age of 56.

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

Yeah it is a kind of a fail to realize his last creation was a worse copy of a phone.
Jobs actually wanted to make the iPhone 5 and 6 after the 5, but I'm guessing Apple as a whole, or the new CEO thought it was too much and for business sake they made the 4S which will sell.
