So I'm pretty close to catching up with the airings of the Japanese anime progression to the point where I'll need to wait for the airings each week so I wondering, if I wanted to pickup the manga around where the anime leaves off, what would be a good volume to start with?

I've been hankering to get back into some good manga reading as it is and figured Naruto'd be good place to start.

Subsequently, how far has the manga progressed over the anime (# of volumes)? And how much lag generally beteween Japanese > English translations?

Thanks!

ok, so here's the deal man. The manga is basically a full arc ahead--the anime is at where Sasuke kills Danzo, so the last episode ended exactly where chapter 479 ended. Manga is now at 537, and each volume is 9 chapters long. Basically, the Manga is 58 chapters ahead, and 6 volumes would be 54 chapters (9 x 6 = 54 duh), so it's like 6 and 1/2 volumes ahead of where the anime is. I don't know what you mean by the lag between translations... cuz there's a chapter each week that gets translated. i don't know how long it takes--in America--for volumes to come out though, like to buy in stores and stuff. In America, if you're waiting for the manga to hit stores volume by volume, it takeds FOREVER

Lag time, delay.

Mainly, how long it takes before we get any given volume of the manga released in english. I can watch the anime subtitled, but until the manga's released in english not much I can do. :p

Lol i know what Lag means. I'm just saying, we get manga released in English each and every week online. But if you are actually waiting for an entire volume to be released, like in stores or somewhere you can buy a volume in book form, that takes quite a while. so if you wait to buy translated volumes, you will be waiting a while because it can take more than several months--it does not seem that America really has steady release dates. You're better off just reading the manga online each week. And if you are caught up with the show, and you are at where Sasuke kills Danzo, just start at chapter 480 and you'll catch up soon cuz we're only at chapter 537

In short, fully released English volumes in stores takes a long time, but you can read every chapter online and there's a new chapter released each week. If you tell me where you are in the anime i can tell you which chapter to start at. but if you're all caught up, start at chapter 480

And that's what I was looking for really, thanks!

I"ll probably pickup with the online readings once I finish with the animes. About how much content do you get from a single chapter, is it about as much as an episode of the anime? (IE amt of story progression, character development etc.)
