[Question] how did itachi activate his mangekyo?

You get the MS from sufferring the pain of losing someone close to you. Shisui was like a brother to Itachi and Itachi was there when he died so it activated.

He witnessed how Shisui died. It's a tragedy big enough for him to awaken MS since they were like brothers.

but that is what i'm saying shisui didn't die. not in front of itachi anyway.

agree.. the question fu*ked me a lot fr a while and then i ignored it... its clearly stated in manga wat conditions are required to awaken MS but it totally opposes the story itachi told abt him and shisui later on.. can be called plot no jutsu.. and also it culd be that shisui is alive cuz they never told that he died.. itachi said he vanished or watever...

Yeah, why DID Itachi tell Sasuke to kill his best friend when he didn't have to? And how DID Shisui activate his if he was such a saint? There must be other ways to activate it but why not tell Sasuke about that?
