Question about Edo tensei

I was wondering what does edo tensei actually do?
I mean does it sommun the real dead body and make it alive again, or it just brings another verison (!) of it.
The reason why it got in my mind was that when kabuto revived itachi he shouldn't have had sharingan because sasuke had already token his eyes, can anyone give me an answer for that??

it brings back the character in his prime (so I dont think its the real body)

Edo tensei revives the person as they were the moment they died. itatchi died with his sharingan therefore he was brought back with it.

it revives the soul in anew body, however the soul keeps the pre death characteristics (re-read manga)

edo tensei uses a sacrifice to bring the dead back to life.it brings them back with any kenkei genkai they had...thats wy he still has his sharingan
