I would like to know when do you think Danzo witnessed the mangekyo sharingan before he fought Sasuke?

He says "it's been a while since I've seen amateratsu".......

Did Itachi had mangekyo before the massacre? I'm just asking.

Who else could've had a mangekyo on the leaf? Kagami?

Yes, Itachi did have MS before the massacre,hell he even used it on on Sasuke

itachi meant that the mangekyo is rare because there are 3 uchias living who can obtain mangekyo.
