working out is silly, since humans have limits it doesnt matter, the last thing you will be is gay after yelling frieza here i comeee!!

The reason we do these exercises is to break those limits.

Don't ask these people here mate, either ask me or ask someone on a bodybuilding site! This is Narutobase, more than 90% of these members are fat!

Do both like me, Do it like this, depending on how many NORMAL push ups you can do without any breaks, do 20% than change than 20% of your full and change again! The most push ups I have ever done was 80(in one go, with no breaks), so this is what I do

16 normal, 10 second break
16 diamond, 10 second break
16 wide, THAN 30 second break
Than repeat until you get to 100% of your maximum, so mine would be 80, so i would need to do 16 normal and 16 diamond again after the 30 second break to get to 80!

To help you out a bit more, lets say your maximum push ups were 25
So than you would do
5 normal 10 second break
5 diamond 10 second break
5 wide 30 second break, than repeat until the 5 adds up to 25!

Also planks are not that good, try to do decline sit ups with some dumbbell on your chest!
For pull ups, try to do, Normal, Wide and than super close, repeat.

Jog for 30 to 45 minutes a day at 30% of your full speed and try to build up to 50% later on!

Also I recommend you do some weights to bulk up a bit! My uncle was a cop, he told me they make you do a lot of strength test and they test your stamina! Also depending on where you live, you HAVE to get tazerd to be able to carry one yourself, If you live in England like me that is, but if you are from America, you can just carry a normal gun!

Good luck and make sure you are not one of those a hole cops! Also don't get brainwashed and have your own head when you go IF you get through it!

This is good advice dude, but OP seems kind of clueless, so I recommended a simpler routine to start up his strength gains, and so he could get use to his body mechanics.

Most police pt tests are a joke. I had a buddy get out the army and get hired on as a cop in OC. Maxed his pt test. He was a fat body.
I think he said the minimum was like 20 push ups 30 sit ups and a 13 minute mile run or something like that.
They might vary the standards for age groups as well.

You obviously need to practice push ups but mainly only for form. They won't get you very far in actually working out. Your thumbs should be right below your nipples when you go down and your elbows should be close to your side. Most people don't do that on the test but that way it keeps you from having to worry about *******s trying to lower your score.
Pull ups and dips are way better for you in terms of athleticism and help you with the strength required to pass a push up test. Look up the Bar Workout. It will get you in shape, you'll keep the muscle longer, and I eat whatever I want.

When it comes to running worry about the distance. If you have to run a mile on the test train with three. If you have to run for two like me train with five. If you're a man you should at least be able to run two miles in fifteen minutes but you're doing good if you can get into the thirteens and cruising at any speed below that.
Easiest way to get your cardio up is sprint for sixty seconds and walk for 120. It's like a bench press for your heart plus it helps you get used to sprinting that last quarter mile.
If you're testing with other people just look at the back of their head if they're in front of you. Your body should automatically pass them.

As for abs again practice sit ups for form. If you're a little dude keep your knees together. If you have a belly it usually helps to spread your legs a little bit. Either way its kinda stupid because most men use their quads more than their abs. That's why the army has been looking into a different method.
For a work out try reverse crunches, heel touches and grabs, and leg lifts. Crunches are garbage. Plus if you cross your legs while doing them you'll end up with asymmetric abs. Planking just shows how long you can plank. Not much of a workout.

That will get you through any pt test.
Feel free to message me for any more questions about making gains.

you sound like a novice i'll clue you in bud

Pull ups: work your back, and arms slightly. If you want to build muscle then pull with your elbows.
Push ups: work your chest, triceps, and shoulders slightly. They also work your core. FOr chest have a wider stance, for triceps keep your elbows narrow

Both.

I'm not so good with pullups, but I go up to 90 pushups in one go at the moment. I do cross country/running with a friend for about 50 to 120 minutes straight, no walking. We don't ever talk while running. Both completely lost in music and imagination whichhelps with long distance running.

Both are great..

there are many different ways to do a push up which works a variety of muscles which is why they are great.. pulls up work a specific part of one or 2 muscles but at a higher intensity..

if you do them both in good moderation then you will develop your arms very well :)

And eventually be able too one-arm push-ups like me.

@bold: Depends on how fast you run.

ot: Pushups make you stronger, but pullups makes you seem stronger since they're harder, also, if you want to be a cop, try running a few kilmeters per day, eat healthy, get in shape, start working out, learn how to fight and how to use gun

It's not really a question of one makes you stronger than the other. Both work completely different muscles.

Push-ups: Chest, Anterior Deltoids (front of your shoulder) , and Triceps (back of your upper arm)
Pull-ups: Depending on grip, you can hit your whole back and they also work biceps (front of your upper arm)

If you are talking about strength, running won't help. You need to do squats and lunges and wall-sits (assuming you don't have equipment)

Running WILL help to increase endurance, but you should mix in swimming and maybe biking to be a well-rounded athlete and to change up resistance. Aim to be able to run about 8min/mile as that should be fine for most police agency's tests.

Diet is key for anything so that is true. You need a balance of carbs, protein and fat (yes, you NEED fat)

Which one makes you stronger faster? Which one do cops need? I wanna be a cop. I do both.

I do staggered pushups by the way, not the normal ones.

How long should I run each day?

How many planks? I don't like situps

Just use steroids. They work real well.

And if you want to know my source, I am a certified personal trainer who also happens to be an applicant for the NYPD. I've been working out for the past 10 years pretty consistently (cardio, strength, flexibility, and speed/power).
