Which one makes you stronger faster? Which one do cops need? I wanna be a cop. I do both.

I do staggered pushups by the way, not the normal ones.

How long should I run each day?

How many planks? I don't like situps

how many minutes is a mile? also how long should i plank or situp or crunch

@bold: Depends on how fast you run.

ot: Pushups make you stronger, but pullups makes you seem stronger since they're harder, also, if you want to be a cop, try running a few kilmeters per day, eat healthy, get in shape, start working out, learn how to fight and how to use gun

Push-ups workout your chest,shoulder,and triceps
Pull-ups workout you back,shoulders,and biceps
So do both also do body weight squats

I recommend interval training 4x4. I don't know so much about cop profession, however to become a good one, yes and to answer your question then I think it is enough with 1mile almost everyday ( It's up to you really ) If you wonder what interval is, then interval training is to improve your endurance or whatever. 4x4 means to carry out 4 hard work periods, each 4 minutes, and 2 minutes rest between each work period.

About push ups and pull ups. Well, in other words practice both almost everyday.

Like i said earlier, it depends on how fast you run, but lets just say that you run 15km/h then you should run for about 15 min, then rest and run for another 15 minutes.

Push-ups workout your chest,shoulder,and triceps
Pull-ups workout you back,shoulders,and biceps
So do both also do body weight squats

He'll be needing the pushups more than the pullups later on if he is gon be a cop.

thanks, what about jog?

When you jog, u run almost 15km/h, usually it is 12-14 on average, but since ur prolly a fit person since you can do pull ups and aiming to be a cop, you should be able to jog at about 15km/h

Don't ask these people here mate, either ask me or ask someone on a bodybuilding site! This is Narutobase, more than 90% of these members are fat!

Do both like me, Do it like this, depending on how many NORMAL push ups you can do without any breaks, do 20% than change than 20% of your full and change again! The most push ups I have ever done was 80(in one go, with no breaks), so this is what I do

16 normal, 10 second break
16 diamond, 10 second break
16 wide, THAN 30 second break
Than repeat until you get to 100% of your maximum, so mine would be 80, so i would need to do 16 normal and 16 diamond again after the 30 second break to get to 80!

To help you out a bit more, lets say your maximum push ups were 25
So than you would do
5 normal 10 second break
5 diamond 10 second break
5 wide 30 second break, than repeat until the 5 adds up to 25!

Also planks are not that good, try to do decline sit ups with some dumbbell on your chest!
For pull ups, try to do, Normal, Wide and than super close, repeat.

Jog for 30 to 45 minutes a day at 30% of your full speed and try to build up to 50% later on!

Also I recommend you do some weights to bulk up a bit! My uncle was a cop, he told me they make you do a lot of strength test and they test your stamina! Also depending on where you live, you HAVE to get tazerd to be able to carry one yourself, If you live in England like me that is, but if you are from America, you can just carry a normal gun!

Good luck and make sure you are not one of those a hole cops! Also don't get brainwashed and have your own head when you go IF you get through it!

This is a great routine...

And try to do both pullups and pushups...if you only do one it can create muscle imbalance...and try dips....and if you feel like going into real advanced training then do muscleups..the best upper body strength exercise....however it takes some time just to learn it :)

I do 50 push-ups and 75 sit-ups each night. When I can, I do around 60 pull-ups, but I do it to train for Parkour.

Pull ups are pretty hard for me cause i have REALLY REALLY really long arms but I can manage to do 8-10 in one set when im completely focused. I do that about 5 times, and that is my pull ups for the day. Haterftw spoke the truth with that routine though. I might actually try doing it myself. I was usually just doing sets of 30 with pushups till i got bored lol. Routines are crucial. stamina is also important to become a cop. Trying doing different cardio's that really push you to your limit like Mile runs, sprints, lap swimming, Jump Rope.. jump squats, etc.

At my local academy the Physical Fitness test consists of Push Up's, Sit Up's, and a One Mile Run. I would say focus on those when you are actually close to joining (or if you're even accepted for that matter).

Since you don't like Sit Up's I'm going to assume you're either over weight, or built like a twig (I get it I've been there, that's why I feel qualified to answer your question) focus on losing weight/gaining strength first before targeting any specific exercise.

I recommend getting on a program, and keeping a log, regardless of your goal (weight loss/strength gain/hybrid) you're going to have to follow some kind of diet. This may seem like a lot of work at first, but trust me over time it just becomes part of life, and you get the log down in under two minutes.

Again due to your question regarding basic body weight exercises, I'm going to assume you don't know the first thing about working out, so I'm going to set up a very basic program for you, that I recommended you follow for at least a month in order to kick start your strength gains, and so you get in touch with your bodies bio mechanics.

Here is the program, I recommend you walk (briskly) daily for at least one hour, and endurance gains. (again this is specifically for starting strength). If you don't recognize any of the exercises, google is your friend.

-Monday, Wednesday, Friday
. Walk
. 3 sets of Pushup position: This is only holding the position, do this for a minimum of one minute per set.
. 3 sets of 20 Body weight squats
. 3 sets of 10 Pull Up Negatives: This is only the decline motion of the pull up,do it as SLOWLY as possible.
. 3 sets of 10 Chair Dips: Use a chair to perform Dips
. Rest 20-30 seconds between each set.

-Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
. 1 Hour walk

. Catalog everything, what you struggled on, and what your improving on

As for the diet, it's very simple: if it comes from the ground, or was alive at one point, you may eat it (Beef,Pork, Fish, Poultry, Vegetables, Fruit, and Legumes), eat as much as you'd like (until your satisfied) and as many times as you'd like, you should never be hungry, and you should never be stuffed. Also try to stick to drinking only water and 100% Fruit/Vegetable juice. It doesn't need to be anymore complicated than this (if your goal is not weight loss add complex carbs like potatoes, yams, wholewheat bread, oats ect.)

If you decide to take my advice, and see positive results (or the workout becomes to easy before the month is up) feel free to PM me, and I will help you out.
