Purpose of Itachi losing his left eye?

Madara lost his eyes when he was alive. Itachi lost his eyes when he was EDO o.o He will come back with his eyes if he did come back.

As much as I would like to see Itachi come back, break down the fight, and then solo everyone it isn't going to happen. Kishi made Itachi damn near the perfect ninja. He's worried about finding a way to take down Madara in the same way he wrote himself into a corner with Itachi. Bringing him back serves no purpose.
