Well i'm sure with Training he could train himself/His eyes to over come the tunnel vision problem. I think it's more lazy just to scrap the idea of him using Raikiri rather than train himself to use it without his sharingan.

Gaara's sand bled, the reason why he said "Mother, Blood, blood!" when chidori pierced the sand but didnt pierce him. So where couldve the blood possibly come from?
