To start off, I'd like for you to tell me all you know about puppetry. Naturally, I want you to tell me of the strengths, weaknesses, where the techniques originate from and the characters in the series shown to use the techniques.

puppetry is a fighting style using chakra threads to control puppets for offensive and defensive purposes. It was created in sunagakure and created by someone who's named after a real japanese puppeteer (but I don't remember his name). the creator of this fighting style made the 10 white puppets Chiyo used in Kazekage retrieval arc.
puppets are ninja tools made of wood or real human bodies (used only by sasori) many of them have humanoid shape with extra limbs
puppeteer's skill is always measured by the amount of puppets he can use in the same time

strengths of puppetry:
  • The puppeteer can hide and attack from his hiding place using his puppets
  • can control the bodies of dead enemies using chakra threads (like what chiyo is doing in the war)
  • puppets' blades are always poisoned, which makes any small cut a fatal wound
weaknesses of puppetry:
  • The puppeteer depends in his fighting on using puppets while hiding that will make him weak in close combat
  • once the opponent finds the puppeteer's hiding place, the puppeteer will be in great disadvantage because of his inexperience in taijutsu
  • a sensor/byakugan user can always detect the puppeteer's place by following the chakra threads attached to the puppet
People who were seen using it:
-Kunkuro
-Sasori
-Chiyo
-a guy in The Lost Towers movie that I don't remember his name

For the most part, it's right, but I'll try to iron out a few other details for you.

Puppetry was created by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, who originally created the art for entertainment purposes. It was later enriched as a long range fighting style.

Puppets are generally made out of whatever you can think of, metal, wood, etc and are used as weapons in fighting.

I want to more go over the weaknesses you've mentioned. While a standard puppeteer is limited in a short-range environment, a lot of people will keep a defensive puppet by their side to intercept an incoming opponent if they do decide to enter short range. Another factor is that they have to actually get into short range, which isn't the easiest thing in the world to do when they've got puppets in their face. So really it's a situational weakness, most puppeteers have something in order to prevent the weakness from happening: Kankuro keeps Salamander close by to use it's shield, Sasori has a number of mechanisms to stop people from coming close and so on.

Another weakness is infiltrating the puppets themselves and rendering them unusable. Some abilities can take the joints and rust them out, or at least jam them in place so the structure of the puppet can't move. Abilities such as Sand can achieve this quite well. Aburame is another notable weakness to the puppets since their bugs eat chakra and the puppets are fueled by it, making them strong against it.

So this next part of training is that us puppeteers have a specific set of rules we have to follow in the heat of battle, to make sure that we can work to the best of our abilities. I want you to go and find these rules we have to follow, and simply expand on that rule, and explain it to me. Most of them can be found in the Sasori guidelines. Just one small thing is that I only want you to find the rules which are made for standard characters, and not for specific puppeteers like Sasori.

  • You can't have a KG/HA or SM/8IG in the same bio. You can however mix puppetry with sensory or smoke.
  • Puppet users originating from Sunagakure have access to the Crow, Salamander and Black Ant puppets. Puppeteers from other villages will have to submit custom puppets in the Custom Jutsu Submission thread, just like any other custom puppet. Other canon puppets can only be used by the characters that used them.
  • Puppet users may not have shadow clone (other kinds of clone can't control puppets.
  • only 3 puppet summons may be active at any time. (for example you can have the 100 puppets that sasori summoned [as this classes as one summon] and 2 more puppet summons.)
  • only a maximum of 2 puppets summons may be performed per turn.
  • A destroyed puppet may be used in your next battle regardless of win or loss, however after your sasori bio is destroyed or taken, all puppets are lost.
one of the rule was saying that Sasori bio can't use summoning, why was that rule made?

Right, those are the basic rules and guidelines we have to follow. They're a little basic and self-explanatory but I'll go over it anyway.
  • Simple, since puppetry counts as a special ability, you can't combine anything with it apart from the aforemented sensing or smoke.
  • Another simple one, you need to have a puppet user originating from Sunagakure in order to get those basic three puppets and use them. Otherwise you can create your own custom puppets to use which you can do anyway. It's better to mention you come from Suna to get them as a foothold before creating your own.
  • You can't use Shadow Clones, mostly because you'd be able to control up to 15 different puppets at a time. Yourself, plus four clones can all control three puppets each, which is quite overwhelming. Others who can't use the technique are fine.
  • This is a control based issue. Puppeteers are generally judged on their skill based on how many puppets one can control at a single time. As such, we can only control three techniques at a time. By techniques, I mean things like Sasori's Parents, Sasori's 100 puppet army and so forth all count as single puppet techniques. From now I'll refer to them as puppet summons so you don't get confused.
  • You can make three moves per turn, that leaves you with two puppets to summon and one more technique: the chakra threads to control the puppets. Consider this more of a guideline than an actual rule, summoning three puppets in a turn leaves you defenseless as you wouldn't be able to control them.
  • This is more for official fights and only really pertains to Sasori biographies. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
As for your question, given Sasori's body structure and how he's made purely as a puppet, he has no simple means of drawing blood from himself without using his core, and that is very dangerous. Considering that blood is necessary for the technique, you can't perform it, per se.

If you don't have any questions, we'll move on.
