IMO Punk Hazard is probably one of the best arcs because we got monet, Vergo and we got to see how smoker was doing

You must be an anime only person. Trust me, this arc is fantastic if you look at it overall.

Say for instance you watch the entire arc , from start to finish only then you could understand its OPness U_U
Plus, punk hazard isn't even finished yet. Still a couple of episodes to go man !! Also , don't wanna spoil much but the ending of this arc is pretty darn awesome shurorroorroro!! XD

Well said you two! To be fair just after finishing with some pretty intense arcs pre TS it's no wonder people think that FI and PH sucked. Because their expectations were set too high.

And here it starts, first it was Naruto,as always, and now it's going to be onepiece,as I always thought. Atleast let it rest until it reaches the final arcs, like naruto forgodsake haters.
BTW
Naruto is still awesome, haters gonna hate!
Onepiece is still awesome, haters gonna hate!

Of course you're not going to see life or death battles this is the first island in the New World. They're screwed for the rest of the trip if they need to go all out now.

Of course they need to run away if the whole island is covered in deadly gas.

Of course you didn't see the victorious moment yet because that will happen in the next two episodes.

You can't compare CP9 to Punk Hazard, different story, different goals and different enemies with different kind of strengths. With the exception of Vergo they weren't even battling against real fighters but scientists.

Oh I see. See for me I just didn't feel as though they were were fighting for as a good a reason as the CP-9 arc and the Thriller Bark arc. You know what I mean?

they were fighting because Ceasar was a f?c?ing insane scientist performing experiments on children ... not a good reason to fight him? ... I seriously hope for your sake you forgot about that

and ofc the fight between Luffy and Ceasar wasn't like the fight between Lucci and Luffy, Lucci and Luffy were equals, Cearsar is completely inferior to Luffy, Luffy beat him no effort at all, there is a good reason we haven't seen the power of the M3 yet

... though I agree the anime screwed up the Luffy v Ceasar finale

PS: is it really a coincidence that this thread of your more or less aligns with the ANIME ending of PH, whereas the manga ending happened many, many months ago?

The excitement I had in Punk-Hazard (manga) was fun. I don't feel it in the anime, because I know what's going to happen.

This arc didn't suck. It was a buildup arc to Dressrosa just like Water 7 was to Enies Lobby. For an Arc like that, it did pretty damn well. Though I wasn't a big fan of people running alot of the time from gas, the only thing I didn't like. And if you were expecting some CP-9 level fight from the first arc of New World with a scientist, obviously you won't get that and it's better for the plot too.

No it's not a coincidence. When I read the manga I wasn't a big fan of it then but I was like well the anime might do it better. I waited and it didn't do a great job.

Well, it's your opinion on a subjective matter, so I can't say you're wrong. But I do disagree. The manga did this arc way better than the anime. The anime has done it terribly. It's just been so boring and dragged out.

But on topic: I think the arc is good. But it's more of a set up arc. It set up Doflamingo as a major antagonist in this current arc, and it also expanded upon it, with making Kaido the main antagonist in the saga. It's sort of like how they made Crocodile the antagonist of the Alabasta saga. We first learned of him when they were at Whiskey Peak, and they built up his hype all the way to Alabasta. They're doing something similar with this.

So, in the PH arc, we got reacquainted with Law, who is now an ally. We got to see Smoker post skip, too. Then we learned about Artificial DFs. It set up Doflamingo as a badass antagonist who has tons of connections. And we also got to see Aokiji post skip, and got some hints that he's up to something. Also, they picked up new companions who also tie into the Dressrosa arc and will probably be with them for the arc after that, too.

As for the action, it's not that good. There's been better action arcs in OP. We got Law's big moment, and Zoro being a badass. Luffy vs Caesar was a bit boring.

Mate this is probably the most agreeable post here. Like yeah the anime did do a bad job. So like I also agree that it will be a build up arc. That being said I hope that the Kaido fight is as good as it is being hyped for you know.

True, I agree. Alabasta sucked a little more and Thriller bark too.

Thanks :) I think this arc can be considered the catalyst for the NW. A lot of potential plot points have been set up. As for Kaido, I'm sure we won't get disappointed. I think it will be similar to the fight against Oars.
