[Discussion] Prophecies and Will of D

One of the best positive point of one piece is: That it doesn't follow any prophecies like the chosen one,prophecy child will come and do this and that ...blah blah....(*cough*)
His ability of hearing things like Roger is not more than Co-incidence to make story more interesting...
Shanks like Luffy because Luffy reminded him of gold Roger's spirit and guts when he unknowingly spoke the words Roger once said...
Smoker witnessed Luffy smiling on his execution stand...that was something he couldn't comprehend... I think smoker is just afraid that Luffy might become pirate king...and he just want to prevent happening that... He didn't even knew his name before that scene...but then he got hellbent on Luffy...
Regarding will of D ,I think it's not some kind of special attribute... I must remind you... Pirate king's name was originally Gol D Roger,but when he became PK,world government started regarding him as Gold Roger... It was against his own like...
I think will of D is some kind of strong spirit ,will ,guts with ability to challenge current era and even change it by himself... Whitebeard saw it in luffy... that's why Whitebeard acknowledged him and discarded teach coz he doesn't have will or spirit but he acts only on current situations...
Proof: he hid in whitebeard crew just for getting his desired df...
capturing ace wasn't his purpose neither stealing whitebeard's ability... These events just occurred anonymously...
-He was setting of for Luffy... Ace interfered and got captured...
-Blackbeard actually planned only to get some nakama from impell town(from jaya island,his efforts for being warlord was only this purpose) luckily whitebeard died in front of him and he got golden chance of getting gura gura ability... It wasn't planned... Just happened...
Blackbeard may have power to influence whole era but not will or spirit or guts...
I don't know if he has some past regarding his name(D)but nothing can be said for sure in one piece...
This is just my personal opinion...so I maybe proved wrong...

I understand that I just started reading and watching One Piece recently but his name was Gol D. Roger but the goverment called him Gold Roger as he became famous that's why Ace's birth name is Gol D. Ace. Personally even though new I interpret the will of D. as the "chosen ones" people with the potential too live up to the will of D. Also because of what Whitebeard says that Luffy resembles the one that Roger was talking about one could interpret Luffy as Roger Incarnate. Luffy is someone following his dream but unknowingly has a greater purpose eventually he'll fulfill his dream while at the same time changing the world kind of like Naruto lol

i suggest u look into it more carefully, as likeitmuch said..his real name was gol d roger, government changed it to gold roger, ace's name was gol d ace..he adopted his mothers name since he hated his father.
and im guessing this prophecy is also why WB recruited Ace to begin with

you havn't stated anything that everyone that is up to date doesn't already know(other than getting urself confused with the facts), so may i ask what are we suppose to discuss here?

personally i think there's a lot of foreshadowing in one piece. there's a ton of parallels between luffy and roger- will of D, conqueror's haki, can hear the voices of all things, he has the same personality, smoker is set on luffy because he reminds him of roger, roger was garp's 'friend',ace was luffy's brother, etc etc

and didn't mihawk call him the chosen one of the new generation of something like that?

Yes there are a lot of foreshadowing and there are no plot holes or loop holes .Between Roger was not garp's friend .Garp was a marine and Roger was the pirate king .They are rivals , Garp agreed to take care of Ace because that was Roger's final wish.garp save an innocent child on humanitarian grounds not based on friendship and all.
