I admit it's clever, mostly due to the assumptions. By making those assumptions, he determined the problem type and that the key is the sign of the exponential (which is the solution), which allowed him to determine if it would grow exponentially or decay exponentially. He was describing a 1st-order differential equation problem to which an exponential is always the solution, see below.
Note there's another way of writing this, not assuming rates, but discrete events for each soul entering hell, that requires additional terms. Really, I shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the constants.
dy/dt=-y(t)/tau_s
**This is the growth rate of souls in hell as a function of time.
y(t) =a_inf + (a_0 - a_inf)*exp(-y/tau_s)
Where a_inf, a_0, and tau_s (the time constant) are constants.
Edit: As always in math, if someone can, please check my work, it should take about less than a minute. Apologies the simplified version was incorrect as I assumed discrete events. Thanks
Essentially the same problem as having a sink with drain the empties at a certain rate, and a faucet pouring water in at a certain rate. If it drains faster than the water pours in, no problem. However, if water pours in faster than it empties, it overflows. It's a classic Calculus problem, see above. I should note, that when he says that number of souls changes exponentially he's already assuming this without stating it I believe.
Peace
and you've just woken up right?

WTH:rofl: This is verry funny.
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Jesus in heaven this was too much. This just threw me off my train of thought of what I was doing earlier. Oh my god I have to show this to somebody.
and you've just woken up right?
One thing I don't get. If that was the paper then why is it so short? Normally college papers are several pages long. This seems more like a high school honors class paper. Oh well maybe it's just me.

lol xd there's a creator on the moon called hell >.>
For some reason I can't help but feel a negative connotation from that (although I don't think it's intended), like I'm the black death of threads, lol. Oh well, it's not my intent, and they tend to continue anyway. Maybe people are vaccinated, lol. Please, carry on...
Peace
I'd just like to point out that there is a town in Norway called Hell, so technically Hell freezes over every winter :|
hahahaha... well it's cool man....
nothing to debate about it... xd
xD The end was epic xD We need more guys like this![]()
It was nice for what it was but I always over-think things. And leafafter I am the Black Death of Threads. About like 80-90% of the time I post people don't bother to post after.
-____-
Then there are multiple Hells to. Where I come from there is also a town called Hell (Pekel - In my language) and that one also freezes over every year. xd
Lol..nice. its even funnier if you actually get it.
Yeah. I highlighted the last part to emphasis on the intent of the thread but, the whole proof makes one smile.![]()
Ah, good. And here I was thinking I'm the only perv.
very funny and creative thought, but i pity the student who got the A. Teresa is gonna kill him xD
@leafeater: can you say what variable is what in the theory?
lol.. I saw a red flag when someone posted something resembling a theological debate. I had to go for damage control.![]()
